My boyfriend and I have come here regularly since we moved to chapel hill a year ago. We have never had any issues and this was my favorite place and honestly the only place i would get mexican food in chapel hill until the last time we visited. We sat outside and asked about the drink specials as they were advertised on the chalkboard walking in but our server seemed to know nothing about them and told us our drinks would be full price regardless if they were on special or not, no big deal. But why advertise a special that?s not a special? We both still got drinks and ordered queso and a shrimp and rice to share. Mexican Restaurants are my favorite places to eat. There are only a few that make a great investment into the building and ambience of their establishment. There even fewer that put effort in the presentation of the meal. I was really surprised by Monterrey. So much so I am wanting to take some of my friends there on special occasions. If you want to go to a Mexican Restaurant that is a few steps above the rest. This is a place I would recommend. It is a little pricy. We had 4 in our party which costed us around $60 before adding the tip. The food was delicious and very large. You can easily have a second meal to take home. I really want to go again.
This spot has great Mexican food and great drinks. My favorite thing to get is any nachos, they all come with great toppings. I could eats these nachos every single time I go and let?s not forget to mention they are super affordable. Great place for some good food and good drinks.
Food is delicious. The inside is clean and spacious and decorated nicely. The only reason for the four stars is the soda was flat and I didn't get a refill and I ordered the churro with ice cream, the description didn't indicate that there was a red jelly in the center, blah.
