Nice going back to my folks old establishment. This restaurant/bar has been around for many years in a small historic town of montrose iowa. Met the new owner who is quite pleasant. Their bar has large windows overlooking the Mississippi River, which is quite calming. The boaters come off the river for. Meals. I had a chicken wrap with Manga habanero sauce. Really good. They have a very good menu selection and reasonably priced. Clean establishments. Live music at times. Also an outdoor garden area to sit in. You can follow old River road( called the Mormon trail) to historic city of keokuk, iowa. Great historical area. Still had a one room school house along the way.
I recently visited a fantastic bar and restaurant along the great motorcycle route that runs through Iowa and Illinois. This spot has been around for years, albeit under different management. It can accommodate up to 100 motorcycles, and the staff always treats us bikers with politeness and excellent service. I joke about the term "Biker Trash," but the truth is that most bikers are some of the kindest people you'll ever meet, especially if you find yourself in a tough situation. Many of them are mechanically inclined and can help you get back on the road quickly. This place is a favorite stop and a popular route for locals in Southeast Iowa.
I realize this is a small town bar and bar food is to be expected but they need to add a couple of healthy choices besides bagged iceburg lettuce put in a bowl and called Garden Salad. I just can 't find anything I enjoy on the menu... and have tried over a dozen times. I do enjoy the corn nuggets and fried mushrooms but don 't want them for a meal.
Friendly staff and amazing food! Definitely have to try some of the appetizers. Very scenic view as well.Parking: Parking was very easy to find.
