Montserrat Self-service

A meal at this all you can eat buffet was included with out train ticket to Monserrat. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality and selection of the buffet. I enjoyed cannelloni, a traditional Catalonian dish, pork and the green beans. My husband loved the baked chicken wings and the sausage. The buffet also included drinks and dessert. Thie food was surprisingly good and the view was great too. Although this was not fin dining we really enjoyed it and felt that it was a good value.

We booked a table in the Table Section of this huge restaurant. Think it would be better. It was a disappointment. The salad was reasonable and acceptable but nothing the write home about. The rice which we waited on was to say the least not up to the standard that I get in Valencia and the broth used for the 'paella ' was not the best. The deserts were mediocre.

In the bright morning sunshine, it was grand to avail of the good choice of ready food here. A short queue moved quickly, so no delay in getting the goodies and moving outside to enjoy. A healthy selection of rolls, smoothies and more are available and we chose well. With coffee and cappuccino, all very satisfying.

We purchased the TOT Montserrat ticket and once we located the restaurant it was excellent. The food was plentiful, well prepared and presented. A nice surprise was drinks were included. To make it even better, the view from the dining room was amazing. Do yourself a favour and make sure you stay for lunch.

If you go to Montserrat, the buffet is highly recommended. There is a wide variety of food from which to choose, including grilled fish, chicken, vegetables, salad, desert, and drinks (soda, beer, wine, etc. . This is a quick and easy way to have a wonderful lunch for a reasonable price.
