When I say this restaurant is homely', I mean just that! Walking into the dining area feels like you have walked into someone's front room, only it has been converted into a restaurant. This isn't a bad thing it's unashamedly old-school. The decor feels...like it hasn't changed since the day they opened, but this only adds to the warm, friendly, lived-in feel. The staff are very friendly and happy to explain anything on the menu. The prices are fairly low and the food is delicious. I had Bean Curd in Black Bean Sauce, Egg Fried Rice and Vegetable Spring Rolls. I've been walking past this restaurant for quite a few years now. To start with I thought it was probably just another take-away till I read reviews on TA. A couple of nights ago I just popped in for a quick meal before the cinema....And I was so glad I did. I'd never seen the inside before and I was immediately struck by how homely and kind of old fashioned it was, but in a good way. The staff were warm and friendly, the food was great, generous portions and not expensive. I will definitely be back ... and very soon.

Best Chinese food ever. We always use Moon House as a benchmark to rate the Chinese food we have wherever we are in the world and none have ever scored as high. Just heard that Moon House is closing soon. It will be a huge...loss to us and many others. Go and try the food soon or you never will! Ignore the decor it's irrelevant. Thanks Ray, Jenny and all the gang for many happy memories. Hoping you will stay open... xxx

Was having a pre-Christmas catch-up with a friend and after a couple of pints we went to the Moon House. There's many nicer looking chinese restaurants in Romford but I choose the Moon House because the food is good and the service is friendly. We...had a selection of starters and mains and everything was really tasty. As usual I over ordered so had the pleasure of taking some home and eating it all again the next day : Reserva una mesa ahora

This was the best Chinese around been going there with my partner since we was even when we moved from the area we tried to visit as much as we can we had taken our first children here and told them we had...so many happy memories here....was looking to bring our child here for a lovely meal but gutted it has closed will always remember our happy memories here

Poor peter would turn in his grave. His son has really let this what was the best Chinese ever. Go right down the pan. The staff think it’s acceptable to swing a dirty mop around the kitchen at one and another. The food was awful...the service terrible. Won’t be going back. Very sad as started eating here in the s.

from the outside the restaurant does not look like that, but do not direct a book from its bay! I went there unannounced in a party of 4 and from getting going the personal was friendly and fast also the most important point that was eating excellent and cheap.

It is disappointing to visit the restaurant if you have fond memories. The food remains of very high quality however the service is not very good. There is no ambiance. It definitely needs a good refurbishment. Stick to take-away meals would be my suggestion.

My wife and i have just had the best meal ever ! The staff are excellent and the owner is a lovely man. We will be coming back next week. Just found out this is the oldest Chinese Restaurant in the whole of Essex. Keep...it up !!
