It was delightful to meet Maya and Toni Frick. They were warm, hospitable, and seemed genuinely interested in sharing what it truly meant to be an Appenzeller. We spent the morning feeding the animals on the farm, making straw figurines, and learning about age-old traditions in the canton. Lunch was quintessentially Swiss with a leg of ham, rösti, salad greens, herb-mustard vinaigrette, and a rustic bread. I still don't know how they managed to cater for thirty people between themselves, but they did it. We ended the day learning how to play the alphorn, trying our hand at coin rolling, keeping beat with Toni on an enormous cowbell, and singing tenor in an impromptu yodeling choir. It truly...
