Go in there pretty frequently.Always get a chicken,ham leek pie.They are lovely,but today i got one and have just eaten it and i have to say i was very disappointed.Normally they are full of chunks of chicken and plenty leek,today it was nothing like that.Yes there was chicken and leek in it but nothing like the norm.Still tasty but considering the pies are now £2.10 they are not what they used to be. Maybe it was just that one like that, i dont know but i wasn't happy.I know everything has gone up but that's not good when the quality has dropped. Disappointed customer today. Hopefully Rays will address this or they may lose their name for quality pies and coinfectionary
I can't say enough about Ray's bakery in Prescot. Their pies, cakes, celebration cakes, bread, scones, and mince pies are truly the best. Many of their recipes bring back memories of my childhood, when my aunt would send me there with her shopping list. Even in high school, my friends and I would stop by to get a bag of "brokes" - better than any lucky bag! Ray's Buffet has been a staple at many family gatherings, both happy and sad. The cafe was a lovely spot that will be greatly missed. I'll definitely be stocking up my freezer before they close!
The food at this restaurant is fantastic, the cakes are particularly delicious and the staff is amazing. Unfortunately, it is closing at the end of September as a new chain I am not familiar with will be taking over. It is uncertain if the quality of the food will remain the same, as it is unlikely that it will be baked on-site. Hopefully, the new chain will still provide good food like Ray's did.
I love the bread and cakes at this restaurant. I just wish they would deliver to Allerton Road before the shop opens. The last two days, I have tried to order a large custard and large apple pie, but they don't get delivered until after the shop opens. I cannot go later because they are all sold out. This is the second cake Ray's have made for my family, this one being a Peter rabbit design for my grandson's first birthday. I took a picture to the shop and it was replicated exactly as the picture. Absolutely beautiful, we were very pleased with the cake. I would recommend Ray's to anyone, the staff were so helpful. Thank you so much.
