Beyond a doubt some of the best fish n chips I've had in a very long time. Generous portions of lightly battered halibut served with coleslaw and hand cut fries. There is also shrimp and burgers to be had. Help yourself to your choice of soft drink from the kitchen fridge at the back of the room and wait for your order to be prepared.It's not a fancy place but it's clean and welcoming and the prices are very reasonable when you consider the quality and size of the portions. Mrs. H obviously has a number of regulars and greets them like family inquiring about their kids and grand babies. We had read the food was quite good here so we thought trying it on our way to Bala.When I first ordered I was shocked at the price, $18.50 for an order of halibut and chips.Waited 15 mins. for our order and when it came up boy were we surprised, enough food for 2 people. The 4 pieces of fish were light and crispy and the fries just right. We were able to sit inside and eat which was a good thing because the smell from the outhouses was staggering. My wife went in to use one and came out saying it was the worst ever!!!Great food, good location on 38 but the outhouses need to be upgraded or something.

Mrs. H has moved across the street into a larger location and now has some inside tables. This was a bonus as we thought we were going to have to eat in the car given it was a rainy day. The food is still excellent, with the best fish and chips anywhere. The batter is light, not greasy, and the fish is fresh and moist. Beware, only order the whole portion if you are either sharing or very hungry, as it comes with a mound of fries and three pieces of fish! The half portion would have been plenty. The place was hopping at noon midweek, as it is very popular and deservedly so.

Stopped at this out-of-the-way location because of the rave reviews here...Eeeewwww. Tons of flies, all I could smell on this hot day was the smell of outhouse and the fish is incredibly greasy. Did it taste good? Sort of. In a gut churning, I'll pay for this later sort of way. This place was like a low-end chip stand. Absolutely fine if that's what you're looking for. I saw a review and I am a huge fan of Fish n Chips. I had to try and I it maybe the best Fish N Chips I have ever had. The ladies behind the counter were friendly, helpful and informative. I asked a question about the size of portions and they hit the nail on the head. If I ever am in the area again I will definitely go back.

Had great fish and chips at this little diner on our way north. Portions are huge, but half portions are available for smaller appetites. The fish is fresh, battered to excellence with tasty home fries, and the ladies behind the counter very welcoming. Highly recommended (provided of course that you like fish and chips!).

Mrs H Fish And Chips Are wonderful But Last Time We Visited There Were Huge Flys Buzzing Around The Windows And When We Went Outside To Eat At Picnic Table There Was terrible Stench Like Sewer Or Something... Love Your Food Mrs H But Please Do Something We Will Be Back If That Issue Is Taken Care Of But Not Till Then.
