Mt Hawthorn Fish & Chips

My two girls had two friends over and they all decided they'd like some fish and chips for lunch, so we ventured up to the Mezz. The girls walked ahead, and by the time I walked into the shop, one of the ladies had given them all cups of water from the water cooler. For all she knew they were just random kids walking past, so that was very kind. I decided to order two serves of fish and chips plus $2 extra chips. The lady asked if I would like the fish cut into smaller portions so they'd be easy to eat which sounded good. Suddenly decided I needed a feed of fish and chips but had not had a lot of luck in my area. So I opened Zomato and found this place. Read a few reviews and all seemed well. Fish size was generous, lightly battered and beautifully cooked. The chips were a fair portion and certainly enough for one. I arrived 15 minutes before closing and there were no issues getting my small order made and the service was friendly....highly recommended and will definitely go back again when I feel the need for a feed.

Was very disappointed when the fish tastes of old oil and the chips were very dry like card board Customer service needs improving. Two teenagers working on the till, one who doesn't even know how to use it then goes to ask mum who yells at Her in front of people waiting in the store. Staff don't wear hairnets nor does the lady wear gloves who is dipping the fish in the batter then wipes her hair off her forehead. Not a very good look and completely my husband and I off this place.

Kudos to this spot for being open Good Friday! Service was quick and our meals were ready without much of a wait. Servings are huge! The fish portions were massive and chips were equally generous. Fish was lovely and juicy but batter was a tad oily. Chips were nice and not over salted so you could add more if you wanted. Well priced and the added bonus of no public holiday surcharge either. To be honest I'm a very fussy vegetarian and to find a fish and chip shop that has so many choices for me is a miracle!! I love the crumbed feta, veggie nuggets, sweet potatoe scallops and so much more (grilled fish a favourite wih the hubby). We are a family of 6 and eating out is expensive, but at Mt Hawthorn Fish N Chips it's prices are reasonable and portions large. We are very happy frequent customers! Beautiful! So crunchy , light & dry. Ask for extra crunchy they are amazing. Love it & extra awesum that its my local..dunno why I haven't been coming here for yrs, just thought we'd try it recently & Im very glad we did. Delicious! can't wait for the next craving :)

HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGEEEEE portions and very cheap but the batter was way too thick. At least it was crispy but I had to peel most of it off. The standard serve of chips you get with the fish and chips easily serves 2.  Oh - cash only too which is annoying

Good sized serving, nice tasty fish, well cooked chips and friendly service. Will be happy to come back again and enjoy sitting in the laneway.

$12.50 for this lot and the fish tasted mostly like the oil it was cooked in, and the chips were pretty tasteless . Don't think I'll be back.
