My wife made a reservation to celebrate our wedding anniversary as well as our friends' anniversary at this restaurant. She called ahead to confirm the time of our reservation, but we were shocked to find out upon arrival that the restaurant had no record of our booking and was fully booked. They admitted to not having a system in place to confirm telephone bookings, which we found to be unacceptable. We will not be returning to this establishment and will be warning our friends to steer clear as well.
We have eaten here a few times and have never had a bad experience. The prices are not cheap but this is reflected in the quality of the food and service. The menu has enough choice to satisfy all tastes and changes regularly offering seasonal,...local dishes. Special mention must go to the maitre d’ manager who balances unobtrusive service with an excellent knowledge of the menu. The complimentary appetiser is a nice touch. I would definitely recommend The Oak Room and we will return.
We had a table for pre wedding for an Evening meal. The staff and service were first class and the quality and quantity of the meal was superb. Highly recommend this restaurant and don't be influenced by some trip advisor comments. Make a booking,...visit and sample the food and make your own judgement.
My husband and I had dinner here one night and afternoon tea on another day, both were very good. The quality and presentation of the food and value is excellent. It can appear a little dingy and dark, we had trouble reading the menu due...to lack of light, but it's all about the character of the room.

You cannot beat the food served here, it is quite simply the best you can get anywhere. Beautifully presented and a multitude of flavours that mix so well and add to the whole dining experience. Well done, class. Give the chef a raise!
We chose the fixed price course menu which offered a good choice of well cooked and well presented delicious dishes. We selected the superb sirloin steak for main course at a small supplement.
We had an incredible dining experience for our first wedding anniversary at this restaurant. The service was outstanding with attentive staff, and the food was amazing.
The Sunday Roast dinner was perfect. The beef was incredibly tender and the cauliflower cheese was delicious. Carole provided top-notch service.

Great choice and taste. Good service and worth a visit. We both had the chicken and was so tasty. The chocolate brownie was amazing.
Excellent restaurant both food and staff exemplary . Portion sizes were good, but consider ordering the side dish of veg.
