We were really excited to take out daughters here for the Junior Ranger program. We were a little turned off by the care of the park. This is the first National Park we've visited that seemed to not be taken care of well at all. The grass was overgrown and trash bins were overflowing. We visited the colonial farm part and were less than thrilled at what we found. The best part was the pier into the Potomac River where you could see Mount Vernon on the other side. The farm...was not a farm. There was a garden that was in shabby shape and overgrown and obviously not run by anyone anymore. There was a large colonial farm home that seems like it would have been a good educational piece for kids...
This park is a wonderful free spot with plenty of trails to explore. You can easily spend a few hours walking along the paths, with one trail labeled as moderate and the others as easy, making them suitable for kids and adults alike. We had a delightful time observing various animals, including geese, cows, roosters, sheep, a lone turkey (yes, just one! lol), and even a bunny hopping along the trails beside us. It was a lot of fun and very relaxing. While the houses and farms in the area were decent, I personally didn’t find them particularly interesting. It is clear that the caretaker has been absent for a long time. There is no water available for the sheep, pig, or goats. The two water troughs are filled with mud and murky liquid, which is definitely not safe for the animals. Most of the area is completely overgrown and unusable for the animals, except for the cows' roaming area. The pig is isolated due to the thick foliage and has an open wound on its head and ear. And that's just the livestock situation. The trails are almost entirely unmarked, making navigation extremely difficult. The only area that is somewhat maintained is the path leading to the tobacco barn and house—everything else is neglected. Whoever is in charge of this place...
Charming yet traditional farm. It offers excellent hiking trails and has some animals like sheep, goats, cows, and ducks. The atmosphere is very tranquil and serene, making it a perfect spot for family picnics. I will definitely return multiple times!

**Restrooms**: Impeccably clean.
**Dog-friendliness**: We met a lovely couple with a beautiful dog, and the place is great for kids as well.
**Picnic area**: There are more picnic tables than are actually used.
This farm offers stunning views. Not only can you enjoy the beautiful scenery, but you can also stroll around and see the farm animals. I always have a fantastic time when I visit the park.
What a delightful place to visit! It's wonderfully tranquil, featuring several walking paths, farm animals, friendly staff, and occasional events.
Great place to hike by the river. Took the dogs on a hike along the river trail, thru the wood's up the hill and finally by the farm animals.

If you have elementary school aged kids this is a great spot for a hike. Their events are always a lot of fun. Wonderful staff.
