It's pretty difficult to get good BBQ outside of the southern states but this isn't a bad substitute, especially for those of us this far north. The volume of people passing through here isn't big enough to ensure that you'll always have fresh meat, hot off the pit, but the brisket & pork were both hot & juicy this visit. I'm not a fan of the brown fries here but some people love 'em. The service is a little hit & miss at times too but the people are really nice so it's easily forgiven. This time, for example, the food arrived & we had no cutlery & no salt on the table. It's just little things, & they are easily corrected, but I think it helps to know what you are going into. My BF and I recently had dinner here and the food was amazing ! Great flavours and nothing to complain about... Other than the cost, $10 for ONE chicken taco (chicken club taco) and no side ?.. Perhaps they should reconsider their pricing. Their other food items are fairly priced, my BF got two BBQ tacos for $10 and we also ordered a small portion of fries for $4... I didn't leave stuffed but I did leave satisfied, just not with the quantity j received for the price I'm paying.Also they tend to "run out" of drink and menu items frequently , so don't get your hopes up for something specifically because you might be out of luck !
We just enjoyed a hearty lunch at this diner-style venue that has enough flavour and a fun decor to get the kids excited (9+ in our case). Fantastic BBQ meats come with a selection of very good sauces that are not your hum-ho supermarket grade kinds. Their hottest and a very delicious one will make you abandon sriracha off the bat. Portions are generous, draft drinks local and service fast and friendly. The only thing that we'd want to see at some point is a an update to the aged decor to do justice to the food and staff. We look forward to being back on our many Toronto-Ottawa trips for this delightful find!
Stopped in for lunch on the recommendation of a coworker. Not a lot of space, but enough seats for a group of six. Lots of variety for beef, pork, chicken and ribs. I had a pound of wings, with "burning tailpipe" sauce and a side of coleslaw. The pound of wings was nine whole wings, so 18 pieces, which anywhere else would be two pounds. The sauce was not too hot and went well with the smoked wings and slaw. Reasonable prices and extremely friendly service made the experience unique and enjoyable.
Neil is great. He's taken over Primitive Cuisine and maintained most of the menu. Great for lunch. If you're thinking of supper it;'s sometimes a good idea to reserve your food because "when it's gone, it's gone"Example, hush puppies. I don't know how many they make each day, but I haven't ever been able to order them with dinner.
Best ribs and pulled pork ever!!!Gotta get there early though, they tend to run out of the popular items later on...but wow is it incredible, the taste, the fact it falls off the bone, and the sauces...you have to check this place out!!!One of those tiny little places you'd drive right by, but well worth the stop!!!
Be forewarned.... They close at 8:00pm! BEST ribs and chicken wings I've ever had!Reasonable prices, 4 BIG eaters, with a beer each, and tip, $120.Neil visited with nus, seems a real pleasant person. Waitress/serviced was excellent.I only hope this review doesn't overexpose this gem!
