The food in this restaurant is terrible. I was served raw cod generously covered in aioli. When I pointed out to the waiter that my fish was raw he belligerently took my plate back to the kitchen. Two or three minutes later it my food was returned to me having been microwaved. I said that it wasn't acceptable, whereupon the waiter shrugged and took the plate back to the kitchen. Two or three minutes later the same food was served to me on a different plate with even more lashings of aioli (microwaved with the food! over my original fish, which now even more of a dog's dinner than the second time it was presented. I asked to see the manager. A young man emerged and asked me if I would like some meat, so I ordered chicken, which he said he would, personally, cook for me. Five minutes later I was served quite a nice looking plate of chicken leg and chips. Alas, when I cut into the chicken it was cold in the middle! Nightmare. We asked for the bill and we're could hardly believe it when they had charged full price for our meals and we didn't even have the three courses. We have eaten here several times because the place looks very charming with its white linen table cloths and napkins and there is a very nice waiter. The food was okay, although there had been issues before: my husband had raw chicken on his chicken skewers (again his food was simply microwaved and returned , I had unevenly warm stuffed aubergine another night. However, we didn't complain too much and continued to go there because it was convenient to our accommodation and it does have a really nice ambience. Until last night cooked aioli and raw cod, along with really poor customer service has driven me to write this review and vow never to go near the Nereida again!
Pleased the Nereida Restaurant was open after Winter for our first early visit to Estartit. The menu has subtle and improved changes over last year and is still very good value for good quality food. Prices however remain the same as last year with the menu del dia ranging from 10 Euros to 13 Euros [on market day and at weekends] for a 3 course meal, wine [or a soft drink], water and bread included. How nice to have fresh linen tablecloths and serviettes! Service excellent with familiar, experienced and well trained staff who are happy to help with small variances of likes dislikes on menu. Good choice A La Carte menu but you can't go wrong with the Menu of the day. Already looking forward to eating there regularly when we return later in the year with family and friends!
We have been regular visitors to Estartit for many years and tried a lot of the restaurants but have not been to the Nereida before. We have eaten there three times this week and each time have had good meals. The menu of the day is on a board outside, three courses including bread, water and a glass of wine and depending on the day, either 10 or 13 euros. The food is well cooked, tastefully presented and the staff have been pleasant and helpful. There is an extensive a la carte menu at reasonable prices. The very pleasant eating area is a proper restaurant with linen table cloths and napkins.
