We spent 5 days in Santiago de Compostela, and ate here twice because it was so good. Honestly there were so many pros: Most restaurants in Santiago de Compostela do not start serving evening meals until 8:30pm, which is annoying when you have young children to look after. O Piorno, however, is open and serving all day from about 9am to midnight, which is great if you want an earlier dinner. The food was absolutely delicious and consistently so, which is why we went back there for our final night. I recommend O Raxo , which is a large portion of well seasoned chunks of succulent pork on a bed of home cooked chips. The steak was also delicious. And for young children there are also dishes such as scrambled eggs with bits of cooked ham, or tostadas which are like posh bread pizzas! There is a variety of local wine, red and white, to choose from too.
The octopus was tasty, the beer was delicious. The service unfortunately was a little rough. We did not feel welcome. In fact we were starving but only had the octopus because we felt the waiter wasn’t feeling us. I appreciate good food but also appreciate good customer service. We will find another spot hear by that hopefully offers smiles and a welcoming reception. Hopefully this is not a cultural thing.
