Excellent meal! Had lunch here based on the great reviews and were so glad that we did. Wife had one of the grilled black pork dishes and I went with the steak. Both were absolutely delicious. This is a small mom and pop place and the owner speaks about as much English as we speak Portuguese but we managed. The menu consists of what is written on the portable chalkboard. Everything seemed quite fresh and locally produced. We also had a small carafe of red wine to enjoy as we relished our meals. I know Portugal very well. Lived in Lisbon for 10 years. I visited Evora several times but never had lunch at O Sobreiro. I can 't understand the good reviews. I think I have just has my worst meal in years. Secretos de porco that weren 't Secretos , dry and cold. All the pork dishes were not just bad. They were disgusting. And they don 't have much more options. I didn 't even have coffee.just paid and left. Terrible place.
We had delicious food here and the owner was a pleasure. We arrived when he was just opening up for dinner and there were no other staff there. He got us settled with appetizers, walked us through the chalkboard menu and showed us the food we had selected before he cooked it, all without much English but great communication. We had delicious grilled pork and house wine and the price was a great value. Highly recommended.
Quality was good, price reasonable but service was awful. It took us 1h to start eating something. Our kid was starving… The waiter forgot several times our orders. It is a small and cosy restaurant in Evora old town. They offer traditional Portuguese cuisine. They portions are large ones, really filling and delicious food. Service is caring and helpful. During the dinner also the chef came to greet us and ask how we like to food. Nice and pleasant dinner.
