We walked in on Maundy Thursday a little before opening at 6, and were welcomed warmly even though it was before their dinner seating. Had a nice local draft beer (Falken Weizen,) local fish, and chicken Caesar salad. The staff were nice, friendly, and attentive. There is a camera in the kitchen where you can watch your meal being prepared. The fish (excellent) came from the Rhein River (sorry can't remember the name) and was very nicely done with some greens, potatoes, and lots of interesting little flavors decorating the plate. At first, I was not sure if I wanted to go to a stylish restaurant – which was my impression from my web research. But I asked if they had any wheat-free dishes, they reacted so friendly and kind that I was immediately convinced. And I was not disappointed at all, in fact, the dinner exceeded my expectations. Although there were more innovative choice, I took a burger which was served with in a wheat-free ciabatta. Everything was fresh, excellently prepared, decorated and served. The restaurant is on two floors, both differently styled but both equally tastefully designed. The waiters were among the friendliest I have had in Switzerland, which is a double praise. Highly recommended.
On the street, small and very comfortable with a very cordial host.We encountered a rude waitress at the Kronehof so we went around the corner and discovered this "out of the way" gem. The hostess/waitress was more than pleasant (cheerful and extremely hospitable.) The lunch special was a Turkish white wine, cucumber salad and a stew of beef and bulgar wheat. Highly recommend this place especially for their specials. Not a large selection of menu items (the reason for the 4 rating) but if you are adventuresome and like a different style of restaurant go there.
I was very impressed with the Oberhof after visiting there for their Gourmet Festival menu. Not only was the food presentation outstanding, but the food was also innovative and interesting. We opted for the wine pairing with the meal and the wines were well thought through and of excellent quality. The waiting staff are well trained and friendly. And the décor, although a bit plain and nondescript, was clean-cut and unobtrusive. I can highly recommend this restaurant. I would say certainly one of the best in Schaffhausen.

I really liked the way they present the food. We ordered cordon blue and the dish was presented in a very nice an unique way. Most of the restaurant will add as side dish French fries or salad but they added some vegetables with a very nice sauce and risotto .... simple delicious :)The best part, you can see how they prepare your dish and also the decoration process, you can see that everything is fresh which it is very important to know what you are really eating.
I have lunch and dinner here on a regular basis and Chef Daniel and his team always surprises us. Raw materials are really good and if we add creativity and great staff, you get an excellent experience. Prices are in line with the quality offered and I truly think that Oberhof is among the top 3 restaurants in the area. Keep it up!
Visited the Oberhof for their food festival menu, which was totally convincing. Taste and presentation of the four courses were top notch. The wine-pairings, all with local wines, actually worked! Add the competent, friendly and inobtrusive service - I was there for an excellent evening out.
Beautiful wood interior, excellent food, and a host and hostess who were friendly and great to joke with. There is an outdoor garden, which we did not visit. In a quiet neighborhood.

Whenever we visit Schaffhausen, lunch or dinner is part of our visit. The Oberhof is consistent with its menu and quality of food. The young chef is very creative.
The food was really nice and the dining floor has a nice atmosphere. We enjoyed a starter, main course and dessert together with some nice wine from the region.
