This venue is exactly as it says on line. An old fashioned barge converted for on board and on riverbank dining. The menu isn't long, as the galley wouldn't allow it, but the selection fills most peoples requirements. Owner plus youngsters serving. Owner is clearly passionate about her cafe. I started with a chicken Laksa, nicely if gently spiced and had a baguette with breakfast ingredients inside. Good bacon herby sausages and egg. My mint hot chocolate was very indulgent. My partner had healthier but equally tasty food. The inside of the barge seems still very authentic. Friendly chatty staff, would recommend.
I discovered this café through an online search while looking for a place to unwind during my short visit to Maidstone. I was pleasantly surprised! The atmosphere is unique, the décor with the boat is lovely, and the frangipane and cold drink I ordered were delicious. Despite it being a very hot day, most of the shaded tables were occupied, but there was still space available. The staff were cheerful, welcoming, and accommodating.
Surprised how good the coffe was here. Served by a delightful girl who may have still been in her teens. I drank it on a bench in front of the boat, which is moored on the River Medway between two noisy road bridges. It somehow managed to be a moment of tranquillity, despite being in the middle of one of the most hectic traffic interchanges I've seen in my life.
I absolutely adore this charming cafe situated along the river Medway. They earn extra points in my book for offering vegan ice cream. I would love to see gluten-free cones and more options available as well. The staff is friendly, attentive, and overall, it's a delightful spot to spend an hour soaking up the sun. The Cheddar ploughman's with fig salad baguette was disappointingly dry, lacking butter and only had a small amount of salad that consisted mostly of a lettuce leaf. For £6, the quality of the sandwich could have been better. However, the coffee was good and the staff were pleasant.
