I ordered a vegan burger at this restaurant, but it came with non-vegan coleslaw on the plate. My Omni husband also had the same coleslaw on his plate, which made me realize it wasn't vegan. I asked the server about it, and they initially assured me it was vegan but would double check that it was dairy-free. When they came back out, they confirmed it was not vegan as it contained egg. I found it shocking that the mayonnaise used had egg in it. The person in charge showed no concern and simply blamed it on a new chef. There was no apology given. Personally, I would not return to this restaurant.
We enjoyed the tasty food and generous portions at this restaurant. While the vegan options were limited, it worked for us as our kids are omnivores. We tried the bang bang cauliflower starter (which we also had as a main) as well as the falafel, chickpea stew with flatbread, all of which were very enjoyable. The vegan spiced apple cake with ice cream for dessert was delicious. The owners were very friendly and there was a cozy log fire burning. It also looked like there was an outdoor area for the warmer months.
First class freshly cooked.food and friendly service and great beer too. Make sure to try the American Red Ale. Very welcoming owners and staff and dog friendly too. By the end of our week’s stay we felt like regulars. We were made to feel very welcome indeed and joined in the Jubilee celebrations during our stay in the Lake District. Definitely be back. The Old Kings Head is definitely worth a visit.

Had the most incredible time at Old Kings Head for supper (favourite pub so far in England)! Seriously ridiculously good food and fantastic service! We had a group of 7, ordered 7 meals, several starters, and desserts and each item was phenomenal! Cannot recommend enough or overstate! Enjoy!!!
friendly staff and a beautiful beer garden in the sun. great for a cold in the sunshine. we were also pleasantly surprised by eating when we stopped at dinner. it was really excellent. the fish and chips were excellent. in the kitchen this place is hidden a real cook that serves real eating.
beautiful pub! very friendly! beautiful lounge area. also allows us to dine in the restaurant with our dog! the staff was super, helpful and very clever dressed! the food was great too! her love for detail was on the point. well seasoned burger. just great, all round!
without booking 9 of us just turned up and had a delicious meal there. vegetarian and carnivore was all great. pleasant, attentive and quick service. did I mention how good it was to eat? we'll be back when we're in the duddon valley.

super friendly host, fabulous eating, wonderful waiter. we arrived as a group of 9 without booking and fortunately they had a super large space for all of us. we all enjoyed our meals immensely. highly recommended!
The cauliflower at Bang Bang was fantastic! However, the burger was just average.
