We were really looking forward to our meal at The Old Mill Restaurant. In addition to the reviews we read, our host also suggested them. Sadly, it was one of our most disappointing restaurant experiences weve had in recent memory. The bacon wrapped filet mignons we had were cooked perfectly and looks great but, aside from the bacon, were virtually flavorless! I told our server right away, but besides offering lame apologies, she was pretty worthless. She did tell us that they do not season their steaks and I could agree that a really good steak doesn't need a lot of seasoning. These were bland and had zero flavor. I'm not an Austin native and this was my first time to the Old Mill. Heard it was the place to go for a lovely meal and I was not disappointed! Service was awesome, I wish I could remember the name of young lady who waited on us. My partner had the ribeye and I had the walleye. Portions are huge, piping hot and delicious. I was told it was more of a business casual dress code, however I observed it was pretty casual and people were dressed in anything from date attire to jeans and a ball cap. Started with the bacon wrapped sausage stuffed medjool dates for an appetizer. These are worth the trip by themselves. I then had the French onion soup, which was very good. For my entree, I had the 6 ounce filet mignon wrapped in bacon. The filet was tender, delicious, and cooked to perfection. There are several add-on options, so I opted for the shrimp scampi to make it surf n turf. The shrimp were a great complement to the filet. To finish such a great meal I had to have dessert. The amaretto cake was the perfect choice. It has layers of mousse and cake topped with whipped cream.

It's a gorgeous place to go eat and the drinks are awesome! But, I've been here 3 times and the check always impresses me more than the food (expensive). The service was fantastic, despite how busy they were. We were very happy to find a place with such great atmosphere in the area. The menu had many great options, but we tried the smash burger and juicy lucy. Both were delicious and would highly recommend. We defiantly have plans to come back and try more of the menu items. The backyard are is beautiful and will most defiantly we on our list for next spring/summer. It was nice refreshing to find a place so unique with such great service.

Not worth what you pay. Steak was plain and very fatty. Also the other people in our group said the say about the pork chop. It might have been a bad night for them but for spending $100 on two people was far from worth it. Service was slow and wasn’t a good experience there for my first time trying it. Would not recommend

Waited at the host stand for 15 mins without being acknowledged while multiple employees whizzed by. Decided to go elsewhere since our business was obviously not needed.
