Oldham's Fish

Their fish was as lovely as ever, but my problem was being overcharged. I didn't check prices at the time but looked at a pic of the interior that I'd taken on my way home. Haddock is £9, and the chips are £2.40. I was charged £16 which is £4.60 more than it should have been. I emailed them straight away on Friday afternoon, but they haven't bothered to reply. This is sad because I have always gone there when visiting Southend as their fish is the best.

Saw a previous review stating Oldhams served gluten free. They don't! All we were offered was poached salmon or a jacket potato. There is no gluten-free batter and they don't grill fish. If you want classic battered fish and chips but gluten free, go somewhere else.

We hadn't booked and the restaurant was busy but we managed to get a table. We ordered plaice and chips as well as a roll and butter. The food was served pipping hot, however, the only problem was the fish batter was extremely oily

Lovely service, the lady (browny blonde hair) who served us was very smiley and was very helpful. The only small problem is that there isn’t gluten free options!

Really friendly staff and fish cooked fresh while we waited. Perfectly cooked and delicious. A great price on the lunch deal!
