We dined on a Saturday evening . It was very busy with the restaurant nearly full and many takeaways going on at the same time. This illustrates that the reviews are probably right. We are not great eaters of Indian cuisine but occasionally it’s a nice change. So it proved at the Onkar! We were greeted by a smiling lady and gentleman. We have visited Onkar before and had a good experience especially when dealing with a garlic allergy. However on this occasion we were told there wasn’t one dish on the main course menu that could be garlic free. Initially they were unmoving but then suggested we wait for the chef/owner who was out doing deliveries. He arrived back and agreed he could make a sauce free balti so it wouldn’t have garlic. When this came the sauce was also delivered on the side complete with garlic. Fortunately we worked this out. The rest of the food was delicious, especially the naan. We were visiting Oundle and wanted to try a new restaurant. After exploring the town, we decided on Onkar. We were greeted warmly and the restaurant had a bright and inviting atmosphere. The staff were helpful and attentive, but not overly so. The food was delicious and the portions were generous, we even had enough to take home in a doggy bag. The menu had a good variety of options without being overwhelming. The only downside was that Onkar is too far from our home, but we are already planning to return when we are craving a fantastic curry.
We had a super meal on Friday. Surprisingly busy for 7.30 but the staff were pleasant and efficient. We had poppadoms with a very good chutney tray then my husband had onion bhaji which were good and plentiful. For our mains we chose chicken dopiaza, coconut rice and tikka mixed grill enormous portion. The food was so tasty and good value for money, probably the best Induan we've had to date. Constructive criticism: sauce to go with Tikka dish would be good and lighting could have been dimmed a little. None of this detracted from the fab meal.

We had a fantastic birthday meal at this restaurant. Indian cuisine is one of our favorites, and this place did not disappoint. We started with deliciously cooked chicken tikka, followed by a delightful vegetable balti and chicken dish. The service was friendly and efficient in a lovely atmosphere. We will definitely be returning.
Onkar you never disappoint! we had a fantastic meal last night.. the boys tried a recommended dish by the owner Ham…Chandigar chicken if you like spicy this is the one! My favourite is Punjabi chicken. The team always give excellent service, thank you!
Such joy! Such taste! I’ve recently moved here from Australia and high on my list was to enjoy a local Indian. And my oh my. What an incredible takeaway… from the classic butter chicken to the saagI aloo. I’m just so happy haha!!
A lovely pre Mothers Day meal. The food was divine. Flavours and spices were gorgeous, and the value was excellent. Certainly well worth a visit.

We have visited this restaurant a few times now. It is the best Indian food we have had in a long time, and the prices are very reasonable.
Sooo pleased to be back at The Onkar! Ham Sanita are always very warm and welcoming, the food and service was excellent.
