We began by stowing our belongings (especially light emitting devices!) in secure lockers and reviewing the tempting menu. After making our dinner selections, we were taken upstairs to await our server. Our server explained how he would get us seated in the dark and how he would be able to serve our food and drinks in the dark.At first, being in pitch darkness was a little disorienting, but once I got used to not having any visual cues I was able to relax and enjoy the company I was with and the amazing food. It would be a shame not to do this when in Montreal. I've been to O Noir a few times and make sure to keep introducing it to as many people as possible! Try not to bring a lot because they ask you to keep your belongings in lockers - pro tip: bring a lock just to be safe. The food is average for the price you're paying, but O Noir is about the concept more than the quality of food. Part of what you're paying goes towards local charities I believe. The waiters are visually impaired so you put your trust in them while in the completely dark, pitch black dining area. This was a fantastic experience. A little nerve wracking at first; we actually opted to bring our 11 and 13 year old with us and they were much more at ease initially than us. Service was unparalleled; Lily was our server and she was fabulous. The precise, directional instructions really help you. I made the choice to order both the surprise appetizer and surprise main and was very happy with my choice. Was delicious but I couldn't identify the meat on the appetizer; turns out duck confit. Would highly recommend going with the surprise.
For once I could not take a photo of my dishes to put on Tripadvisor ;-) Well, it was an interesting experience, but confusing. I admit that we didn't really manage to relax in the dark and that in the end, when I came out, I was left with the impression that something was missing to make this dinner one of those restaurant evenings. that we appreciate so much. And what was missing was the view, and without that you realize how a dinner is not quite the same ... I opted for the surprise dishes and it was excellent. taste point of view.

We went to have an experience. Eat in total darkness. Open our eyes wide and see nothing. What a sensation. You have to take the time to experience this at least once. We were 3 adults and 4 teenagers, all of us enjoyed this experience. An evening in the dark. See nothing of what you eat. You have to live it to understand it. Everyone has to go through this once. Plus the food is great, everyone loves their meal. Delicious. Our server was almost blind from birth. Let go and try it
The dining experience alone of eating in perfect darkness justifies giving O.Noir a try. The entire meal takes place in total darkness as you are served three courses. Eating without your sense of sight did prove to be a bit challenging, but also part of the fun. The food was good but for our group it was overshadowed by the overall experience. Our server was Julie and she ensured the experience went smoothly. I would recommend giving this experience a try!
It was really nice. Being completely in the dark allows you to rediscover the flavors of food. You can either choose your dishes or dive into the unknown and try an off-menu dish. I had a very good pork duo and a surprise dessert which was also excellent.Our waitress Lily was really lovely. I highly recommend this experience.
I wish I could of ordered off the main menu as well as I do find value in that but found the Valentine's Day menu expensive.
