For a Justin Sutherland restaurant I expected much better. The food and drink choices were lacking in variety and very expensive, and the service was a complete miss. We were disappointed the inside wasn't open which meant no arcade, and that was one reason we chose this venue. That said, the rooftop was the other reason and the location was spectacular. We enjoyed seeing CHS Stadium and St Paul Airport from our table. But when we sat down it was ten minutes before anyone came over to help us. I visited this restaurant a few weeks ago and had an enjoyable time, but there were a few aspects that detracted from the overall experience.
1. The biggest issue was that we were excited to check out the arcade, only to find out it doesn't exist. They have Jenga and shuffleboard, but that's about it. It's important for them to update their website and Google listing to reflect the absence of an arcade.
2. Accessing the rooftop terrace involves navigating through a park, using a rather slow elevator to reach the top level. While this is beyond the restaurant's control, it's worth mentioning for potential visitors.

I have been to OxCart several times. It's such a great spot I travel all the way from St. Louis Park. I made the visit to check out the 7 story views of Saint Paul, which are spectacular. The highlight is the view into the CHS Field into where the Saints play. You can also see down 94, Mears Park and more. Views aside the food is great. Burgers, green curry wings, cheese curds and the sausages. The beer selection is strong, a number of craft cocktails. The service is also a stand out. While I’ve had some decent experiences at Ox Cart Ale House before, last night was disappointing. I couldn’t make a reservation online and called three times with no answer or voicemail. My reservation request wasn’t denied via email until an hour before I planned to dine there with a friend, forcing us to find another place on a busy Friday night. Neither of us wanted to pay for parking only to discover the restaurant was holding a private event or had possibly closed permanently. I wasted too much time searching their website, checking emails, and calling with no results. Ox Cart Ale House Today, not only did I have the pleasure of re-bonding with my team in person after so long, I also was able to have the experience of a lifetime. CHEF MICHAEL Wilson not only open specifically for us, he legit created the most wonderful enlightened conversation and mixed it with top of the line food with exquisite ingredients.Y'all if you EVER and I do mean EVER have the opportunity to have this man cook and share a conversation with you.....jump on it. Listening to him speak and share his experiences not just here but, IN THE COMMUNITY was like a breath of fresh air.For real...check him out and support. I promise you will not be disappointed.
The soft opening of this restaurant was not very impressive. The live bands were underwhelming, and the wine list was lacking. Additionally, there were issues with splitting the bill for our group. While the location near CHS Field is convenient, the food was only mediocre. The steak sandwich was enjoyable, but the jalapeño spam balls were served cold and had to be reheated twice. It gives the impression that they may be using pre-packaged frozen food. I appreciate the effort to rectify things at the end of our meal.
The roof top had a nice atmosphere overlooking the stadium, fun place to hang out before a Saints game. Blu burger and fries were delicious but the nachos were not good. The menu said it would have three types of cheese on there and all you could see or taste was the soft squirt cheese which I believe was supposed to be the beer cheese not good. The chicken on the nachos was flavorless and very very dry. I would not recommend the chicken nachos.
Don’t trust the older reviews—Ox Cart Ale House has changed. I stopped by before a Saints game and was told they were still in their soft opening phase. The beer quality was disappointing, likely due to problems with the tap lines or errors in their menu selection. The food was mediocre and nothing special. The location is excellent, and I hope Ox Cart can address these issues before their full public opening.

Great server but I just didn't like that they didn't have soap in the bathroom. Especially during this pandemic. Love the music choice and the server did come over with hand sanitizer when I mentioned there was no soap but it never got attention in the bathroom. The classic burger was delicious and their fries were SO GOOD!
