Oxford Fish And Chip Shop

I very rarely have Fish and Chips these days. However I was stuck for a fast dinner one evening last week and came across this place in Woodfarm which is situated in a row of shops. In fact I didn't see it at first as it doesn't exactly stick out. The whole area looks like it has seen better days to be frank and I wasn't expecting much but I needed to eat. There was a bit of a wait for the food (bad point) as they had run out of chips! However, I can honestly say they were some of the best fish and chips I have ever had and the guys behind the counter were friendly, cheerful and appeared to be enjoying their job. After becoming vegetarian I feared I’d never be able to enjoy a battered sausage and chips again, so I was over the moon when I found this place that does a whole host of vegetarian options! Including Linda McCartney battered sausages which are delicious! They also offer other veggie options like shroom dogs and tofish (which I am a bit sceptical about myself so haven’t tried). The father and son that work there are so lovely, I look forward to post-COVID when I can have a longer chat with them when picking up my food. Have seen a few reviews stating this is the best fish and chip shop in Oxford. Haven’t tried many others yet so can’t fully comment but in my opinion the bar isn’t that high off the ground. Portion size was indeed large and owner was friendly as others have said. But my issue is this. While in there I watched another man, clearly a friend of the owner, remove his face mask and start tucking into a kebab on the same small counter where the food is served! Disgusting at the best of times. Worse with COVID. Good luck with NSF/EHO guys

I came here two years ago and it was really good with a lovely owner. Presumably it has changed hands during Covid lockdown and I didn't recognise the two guys running it. Now the food is very disappointing and there is no nice owner to chat to. The chips were soggy and the fish wasn't crisp or tasty.

I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant in Oxford! The fish and chips were delicious and well priced. Unfortunately, my car wouldn't start after leaving the engine running outside, but one of the owners kindly helped jump start it. This is my favorite chippy in Oxford so far. Thank you!

Oh, my God! the owner will talk to you like you're a friend he didn't see in the old man. really nice guy, really made my day better. Although I was already set to five stars when I left the place, it was also phenomenal. fresh fried fish and some delicious chips. I would definitely go back.

The restaurant serves high-quality traditional fish and chips at an affordable price. The fish is cooked fresh when ordered, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the staff are very friendly. This is exactly how a classic fish and chip shop should be!

The staff was very friendly and provided quick service. The prices were excellent and there was no nonsense. This no-frills chippy is a great choice. Make sure to chat with Kaz about his photography skills and start a conversation.

beautiful fresh fried fish and chips. the pineapple fritters are delicious. traditionally you can't go wrong here.
