To be honest, I ate here because Kinn Thai was not yet open, I was hungry, and this place had room for the pram. But I was so impressed and happy with the choice!
Firstly, you can't deny this is a gorgeous spot, it backs up against the water features in the mall and is very chic and modern inside. There were panel heaters suspended from the ceiling which were a welcome feature as it was quite breezy in the restaurant.
We opted for a collection of grazing plates (six for $49) to share and not one dish disappointed. If anything was not as good, it was the scallops, but that was only when compared to the other stellar dishes.

So we had time before a movie (9.15am) and thought we'd have a coffee. It was Ekka Wednesday and the shopping centre was quiet - as was The Palms, three other tables occupied. The manager was very friendly and attentive, but we waited a while before we could place our order - 2 coffees - and my partner decided she would like some GF toast......The toast arrived - 2 slices of slightly charred bread. That was it. We asked for butter and got a dish of butter cubes that were so hard they needed mashing with a fork. We asked for a spread - jam maybe? Nope - don't have any Nothing else was offered, like Vegemite maybe? Anyway - it wasn't a menu item so....maybe they just don't lower themselves to...

We read the reviews and decided to give The Palms a go. We are so pleased we did! We were met by Richard who was friendly and an absolute delight. Richard - your customer service and manner in connecting with your guests is outstanding. Thank you for the time you spent making sure we felt welcome in your restaurant . Your Jimmy Choo cocktail is bound to be a hit and taking us up on a challenge to recreate a Don Pedro had us all impressed. The food was lovely, waiting staff excellent without being intrusive and the music and water features capped it all off as a special evening. Thank you from all of us.
Great View, Menu looks amazing but Food disappointing!
Taking a look at the menu things were looking up. We decided on 6 small dishes for $50. When the food came out unfortunately it didn't match the excitement. Take for example a chicken dish that had 3 small wings on it with mayo (priced at $13). All dishes had little to no flavour.
Keep the money in the pocket and go elsewhere.
Didn't try any mains so maybe they do better in that area. Service was good and view is nice but overall nothing special.
Summary: overpriced and under delivers.
Beer was nice served in matching branded glasses. My entree came out by the time my friend had finished his entree, without a single apology as if it's normal to do. Meals were quite simple. Nice flavor but nothing impressive. Not once we were offered a second drink. No meal check happened. If they are going to collect 15% surcharge for public holiday, I think they should put a little more effort, although I think that's just their limit and standard.

Love the atmosphere of this place. In such a great spot at Garden City, nice to sit out on the water and have a meal. Is expensive though and I feel the food isn't much worth the price so I've opted for their specials. Chips were great! Not much else to say about this place.
Cocktails were great. Setting was amazing. Food... Well lacked seasoning and flavour. Might just go back for drinks. Great sized glasses for having a few.
