It was a Saturday morning, the parking lot was full, the restaurant was bustling. It is a local place for locals! As an outsider, I didn 't feel completely welcomed. There is a system that one has to figure out. As the first person told me I needed to stand in a single file--ok lady, just trying to figure how the place works! The receipt is also just tucked on the table somewhere, you have to take it up to the cashier to pay your bill. All well and fine--they just assume you know how the place works. The food was just okay. You want toast? There is just white bread toast. Oh--there is a choice of biscuits too. The bread is already buttered when it arrives. I asked for my egg medium over. The white was still quite runny. The water pitchers were left on our small table for their convenience when someone around us needed water. I came in as a solo diner. There was a young man that said I could join him. Very North Carolina--how could I say no?! So I joined him, he comes here almost every day for breakfast. Good conversation. It was a good experience, however not something I would repeat when I come back to Raleigh.

Pam's Farmhouse is a mainstay, down to earth, feels like home place located in West Raleigh. Pam has owned and operated her business for 23 years, I believe. Certainly not the oldest in town but an increasingly rare thing. Pam's offers great southern fare and at a refreshingly reasonable price. Open for breakfast and lunch offering a wide variety of southern breakfast meats, eggs, pancakes and big, soft biscuits. I've not eaten here for lunch but the menu covers all the southern favorites from meatloaf and mashed potatoes to southern veggies. The staff all make you feel like you're with family and friends. Just an all-around nice bunch of friendly folks.

We ordered breakfast and it took us back to the delicious southern breakfasts we grew up on. We live in NJ now. When they put the biscuits on the table, I knew it would be good because they were not completely round and just looked freshly made. Everything was great! Can't wait to return. We arrived around noon and saw many of the other lunch and dinner items that looked very good. The food was cheap. We asked for iced tea to go and they stated that they do not charge for the tea but only 27 cents for the cup. Great southern hospitality. Nothing fancy, but really good food and family atmosphere.

Fantastic country breakfast! Omelets, the best biscuits I've ever eaten, real redeye gravy, real butter. This is a small restaurant with tight parking, is cash only, is very popular with the locals, serving breakfast lunch. I would happily eat breakfast there every day. Has a 100 rating from the health inspection. It was immaculately clean, all the more amazing when you consider the age of the building. The owner is present and keeps close watch. Staff are well trained and had great training in safe and sanitary food handling.
