It was a Saturday morning, the parking lot was full, the restaurant was bustling. It is a local place for locals! As an outsider, I didn 't feel completely welcomed. There is a system that one has to figure out. As the first person told me I needed to stand in a single file--ok lady, just trying to figure how the place works! The receipt is also just tucked on the table somewhere, you have to take it up to the cashier to pay your bill. All well and fine--they just assume you know how the place works. The food was just okay. You want toast? There is just white bread toast. Oh--there is a choice of biscuits too. The bread is already buttered when it arrives. I asked for my egg medium over. The white was still quite runny. The water pitchers were left on our small table for their convenience when someone around us needed water. I came in as a solo diner. There was a young man that said I could join him. Very North Carolina--how could I say no?! So I joined him, he comes here almost every day for breakfast. Good conversation. It was a good experience, however not something I would repeat when I come back to Raleigh.
