As small (4) family group including my 98 year old sister making a Down memory lane visit to Edzell, stayed for a few days at The Panmure Arms and can not praise the staff highly enough, very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Our room was excellent, quite spacious and well equipped, very comfortable bed and was well serviced each day. We ate only in the hotel and found the food to be very good, a wide choice and everything we had was tasty, well cooked and nicely presented. We would have no hesitation in revisiting this hotel, or recommending it to others. Excellent value for money. Had a lovely meal here, food was really tasty and good choice. Although don’t think the portions were as generous as they used to be. The only criticism was the service, too much hovering over you whilst eating, we were asked 3 times if we wanted another drink and we were only there for an hour. Five different members of staff approached our table to ask various questions which didn’t make for a very relaxing atmosphere. You just put a bite in your mouth and someone else came over. Might be better if the waiting staff had areas to themselves and save on the duplication or triplicating of service. Otherwise would go back.
Loveky to deal with on the phone. We had Rosie with us so important that doggy could come too. Arrived, lovely big car park. Welcomed and checked in. Room lovely, oak bed and wardrobes with lovely white linen and tartan curtains. Food smelt amazing. Lovely walk down by the river, then dinner. Garlic mushrooms and deep fried brie to start, amazing. Rib eye steak and chips for me, just lovely and tasty. Chicken, steak and haggis with chips, again all lovely. Puddings, meringue with strawberries and creme brulee. Cannot fault the staff and the food. Yummy. Definitely 5 stars
Whilst travelling through this village we spotted this Hotel and decided to park up and have some food. It was a lovely warm sunny day and we requested to be sat outside in the sun. Lady serving was lovely and very attentive, both courses of traditional Scottish fare were fantastic and cooked to perfection. Once the paperwork had been taken care of we took a short walk to discovered they also have an excellent take away ice shop, meal instantly turned into three courses.

Stopped here randomly after a day in the area and glad we did. The staff were friendly and seated us in the main bar area other dinning rooms are available. The service was attentive and quick and the food we had was excellent quality and well prepared. Some great twists on local foods and some very radical dishes as well, which is great to see on a menu. Good value as well Definately go back next time we are in the area.
Ate here three times while staying in a nearby holiday cottage . We enjoyed all the food we had. There is an extensive menu.Portions are large and tasty.Everyone was very friendly especially David who boxed up our leftovers. We would definitely recommend this place and will visit again if in the area.
Its a few tears since we last had a meal at the Panmure Arms and decided to go for lunch for a change. The bar we were in was very clean and the staff were nice and friendly. The food was ok, a long way from the best food we have had in a pub, but no complaints. We would certainly go back again.
Amazing service fab for gluten free options. I’m coeliac and can always trust the panmure with my food. Great selection of choices too! We couldn’t believe how quick the service was and the staff were very attentive too. Our go to for sitting in and taking away.
