The service was terrible and the food was disappointing. We waited 45 minutes for a hot dog and an omelette, the chips were cold and they forgot the drinks. When we chased the food up it had obviously been sitting around in the kitchen for a while, we complained about the chips and they were just reheated in the microwave, some of the chips were still cold as they had not been reheated properly. The staff were helping themselves to cakes and ice cream and reluctantly had to stop eating to serve customers! Their logo is 'desde 1925', it should be 'still waiting for my food since 1925!'This was our first visit to Vila Real and it's a real shame that we were let down by this cafe. The service w...

We spend some time at the Pastelaria Gomes, which is in the center of Vila Real since the 30's. We love the environment and pastries. Nice coffee and pastries shop with a very local feeling, where you can see youngsters on one side and older friends on the next table. Excellent to sit down ask for a coffee and cake, and then start to read the Sunday newspaper! To repeat!

Very nice pastries and friendly service. There are tables outside where you can have drinks also, in the day and the evening. On sunday mornings, it can get very busy as all Portuguese people go there to have breakfast/brunch. Totally typical and authentic!

We were on a Douro River cruise and one of the stops was Vila Real. We came here to sample the delicious pastry called Crista de Galo - in the shape of a rooster comb. Flaky pastry filled with a custard and almond paste. Out of this world Reserva una mesa ahora

This is one of the traditional pastry shop in city centre. The quality of coffee is quiet good, the traditional pastry are delicious. Good atmosphere and classic style for a place to visit in the trip.

I really enjoy this pastry. Is an iconic place in the city because it has the best local sweets (crista de galo, covilhete, pito de santa lúzia), based on traditional recipes from the convents.

Beautiful interior with plenty of choice. Sweet or savory and very friendly staff. I would recommend this place as they are well priced and centrally located.
