The best pain au raisin we have eaten, ever. And without question the best pastries we’ve had 3 weeks into our latest trip through France. Quite how Maison Massoulier can offer such quality and value in its Petit Dejeuner menu is a mystery to me. All of this on the high street of one of the most popular places in the Dordogne! Á €7,50 you get 2 of their amazing pastries, fresh OJ, a coffee (or other hot drink) and a yoghurt that is so fresh it tastes like it was made just as you placed your order. If you are in Sarlat, you must try it. You will not find better.

As residents of Sarlat this is our go to place for coffee and cake or breakfast. Most resturants in Sarlat are not catering for repeat customers but this shop on the main street does, even in drab January a delicious bite awaits you. Breakfast is excellent value 2 fresh pasties, yoghurt, OJ and hot drink for 7.50. Or taste the locally named cakes Lascaux 2 (meringue and creme pat) or Sarlat pave (chocolate). For a special treat to take home a chocolate stiletto filled with hand made chocolate.

This patisserie choclatier in Sarlat should not be missed as the homemade cakes are all absolutely delicious. Real bonus is you can sit down inside or out for a coffee also and the cafe ou lait is excellent coming with a separate jug of hot milk to make it as milky as you like. We have used this as a light lunch option many times over the years and also often taken a couple of cakes back to the gite they are that delicious! But don't let yourself look at the chocolates!!

We had coffee and pastries here many time during our stay in Sarlat. Everything we had was fabulous and the ladies that work there are very accommodating and friendly,

First time in Sarlat . Wonderful lunch. Gorgeous baquette and fantastic selection of cakes and pastries .
