Peel Wood Fired Pizza

We visited this restaurant for lunch right after arriving in Illinois, and I have to say, downtown O’Fallon is quite charming! Peel is situated in a fantastic location, which is definitely a plus. Unfortunately, the food didn’t quite live up to our expectations. On a positive note, the pretzel rolls were fantastic—warm and well-seasoned, and the sauces they came with were delicious. However, this wasn't enough to redeem the disappointing pizza. The crust was soggy and struggled to support the cheese and toppings. I actually had to use a fork to eat my slices! We tried this for our kiddos birthday for the first time. The server Clarissa was wonderful. We weren't super impressed with the pizza, and the prices are pretty expensive, and we just moved from England so are used to higher food prices. I honestly feel bad for saying a frozen pizza would've been better. There wasn't much going on inside except seating and guests eating, and we didn't see signage for restrooms. The best part of our dinner was the Autumn apple cake which was delicious. The cake itself is very moist, so we felt like the icing layers could've been much thinner. I was truly impressed by the location and the decor of this restaurant—it was very appealing, pun intended. Not only did it look great, but the food was also fantastic. We ordered four different appetizers, and each one was delicious. All the dishes that were served looked wonderful and were beautifully plated. My apple gorgonzola salad with chicken was quite good as well. Although our waitress was just on her third day, she did an amazing job serving our party of ten. We will definitely be returning in the near future!

The gluten-free pizza at this restaurant is absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is fantastic, and the variety of drink options is impressive. For those with dietary restrictions, there are several gluten-free choices available. The pizza is tasty, and the salads are generous in size with multiple options to choose from. The pizza was incredibly greasy and left me with an upset stomach for the rest of the evening. Both pizzas we ordered tasted the same and had a very soggy crust. This was my second visit; the first time was good. The service was somewhat slow, and I had to repeatedly ask the waiter for drink refills. I’m willing to give it one more chance. This place knocked it out of the park this evening. From the hostess, to the wait staff, to the food staff, everyone worked as a team to make a pleasant and tasty evening. Wait staff John knows how to make the evening relaxing while at the same time making sure you never wanted for anything. And the food matched the professionalism of the staff. Service: Dine in
