A very disappointing visit. We stopped on the way up to Fraserburgh for breakfast and were left waiting over 25 minutes for a simple egg on toast and egg muffin. When we questioned a waitress about the wait we were told that there was only 1 chef on duty but that person could not have been a chef because they clearly were not able to cope. Had they told us this on arrival then perhaps we would have been more understanding or gone elsewhere but nope, take the money and let you wait! Couples were leaving and demanding money back which took time as well. It was pathetic to say the least. My coffee was stone cold by the time food finally arrived but nothing done to address the issue like a fresh...

Have stopped here many times over the last 20 years so we were looking forward to the usual standards but left disappointed! The staff at the service counter appeared to be confused with 3 simple orders for soup and a sandwich. Two of us got our soup served straight away and we waited a good 15 minutes for the sandwich. The third person in our group waited 15 minutes for the soup as his was served as a 'soup and sandwich deal '. The other two in the group were not offered this deal. We asked when the entire meal would be served but this added to the confusion to the person who took our order! Soup was very tasty, two plates semi hot, the third was roasting hot. We had just wanted a siimple q...
This restaurant is a fantastic pit stop between Dundee and Aberdeen, conveniently located off the busy A90 with easy entry and exit. The restaurant is spacious and offers plenty of outdoor seating options, weather permitting. The staff is friendly and efficient, and the prices are quite reasonable. One of the highlights for us was the decent selection of gluten-free options, a rarity at other establishments, including custom-made sandwiches. The attached shop is well-stocked, and we highly recommend trying the fresh bread (if there is any left after this glowing review). Despite passing by numerous times in the past, we plan to make it a point to stop here on future trips.
As part of our lunch ordered Mince , Mash and Peas. When it turned up it wasn’t presented very well at all , quite a mess tbh . Everything was ‘Luke warm’ not hot as you would expect. The mash had been boiled and mashed to a pulp and as Soooo heavy with butter it was so yellow and inedible, the mince was almost tasteless and what ever they had used for the ‘gravy’ had started to congeal half way through me eating it ! the peas were nice , but they haven’t been drained properly and were swimming in water . I love Mince and tattles , but this dish was pretty much the worst one I have EVER had ! Won’t be having it again . Reserva una mesa ahora
Our two granddaughters' food was good, macaroni cheese and chips and bacon brie and cranberry panini. However, my wife had a hard and overcooked, dry veggie burger with chips. The chips were good. I had an overcooked and dry breaded fish chips and beans. Chips and beans were good. But, overall, my wife and I have no intentions of going back. We live locally and have been before but this has to be the worst food my wife and I have tasted there. Peggy Scott's really need a new chef or teach the ones they have how to cook these simple dishes!!!
The staff couldn’t have been more helpful. The custard creams were lovely and although they were sold out by the time we arrived they managed to restock from the back which got our weekend away to a great start! An old school fab my mum used to make and you can’t find many places. My son had the caramac cheese cake and couldn’t finish it which is the sign of a great slice! They had lovely dairy alternative mills which always makes me happy too. Great stop if travelling up North xx
We arrived here tired and hungry after a long drive at 6.25pm and had to wait 5 minutes for anyone to appear at the counter. When we tried to order a meal, we were told that it was too late as the kitchen was now shut. I pointed out the clock to the member of staff and said we had been waiting 5 minutes and that it was now exactly 6.30pm, but was met with a blank look. Clearly neither the staff nor the management care about customer service or their reputation.
We stopped here for a break on our way home from Edinburgh and were made so welcome. We weren't sure if we would still get anything to eat as it was a Thursday afternoon around 15.00 but were made so welcome and the bacon and link-sausage rolls were to die for. Very fresh rolls and plenty of bacon and sausages, WOW1 We willde4finitely be back any time that we're passing. Reserva una mesa ahora
I had a good experience at this restaurant, enjoying a nice cup of tea and a delicious cake. The atmosphere was great for taking a break, with comfortable seating and clean restrooms. The staff were friendly and helpful as usual.
