I have been coming to this restaurant for most of my life and finally decided to write a review. We always choose this place for special occasions and for good reason. The Peking is a quaint, family-owned restaurant tucked away between two shops. If you enjoy a traditional dining experience, this is the place for you. The food is exceptional and the service is top-notch. We intended to take photos of the food during our recent visit, but we kept forgetting and ended up devouring each course before we could capture it! I can honestly say that I have never had a dish at the Peking that I did not enjoy. Our typical order consists of mixed appetizers, followed by crispy duck with plum sauce, pan...
This was against the norm... I've always felt rushed at Chinese restaurants. One in one out as quick as possible. But the waitress always asked if we'd like more time between courses and was so nice! Between the courses we had hot flannels to wipe our hands with, the plates were heated as well... so many little touches that made the experience so nice. The food was also absolutely first class as well. Yes the decor may be a little outdated but personally for me it made the whole experience more authentic. Gravesend is very lucky to have such a lovely restaurant.
Unfortunately, this was not a great experience. It was one of the worst meals I've had in a long time. The restaurant had a poor atmosphere, with only one staff member who handled everything from service to cooking. The decor was shabby with peeling wallpaper, a strange smell, and discolored and holey tablecloths. It seems like the place hasn't been updated since the 1970s. I will not be returning to this restaurant and would not recommend it to anyone. I suggest choosing a different place to eat in Gravesend, as there are surely better options available.
We couldnt get into our regular chinese restaurant so we looked online and found Peking, luckily they had availability. When we arrived we was greeted and made to feel welcome, we enjoyed every course, every part of their service. The food wasnt greasy like some we have tried. We have decided this is our new regular chinese restaurant. We highly recommend, DONT be put off by the small doorway, the food and service is amazing

This restaurant serves absolutely fantastic food and has excellent service. I adore this place. The 70s decor is authentic and adds to the charm. It's a hidden gem, a bit hard to find unless you know where to look. It's located upstairs close to the Methodist church. I highly recommend giving it a try - I'm sure you'll love it. The duck dish is especially delicious.
I have eaten at the Peking several times and I was concerned when ownership changed hands. However I need not have worried as it was taken over by a member of staff who continued the excellent service previously offered. The only drawback is the steep stairs to this first floor restaurant but it’s well worth the effort.
Hard to spot, on the main road a set of stairs good food hard to find a decent Chinese but we looked online and found it was worth the trip, collection or eat in only exactly what was required would order again and got a beer with our food nice touch
Food is tasty and hot The duck is to die for and they even shred it at the table for you Staff are amazing they can’t do enough for you very helpfull have been here a few times and will defo come back

They must have it right. Being open over 40 years and still going strong. Amazing food really in a league above all these all you can eat restaurants. Truly recommend you won’t get any better food.
When here for my mum birthday meal last night.. The food was excellent. Service was great. staff was friendly. Could not ask for more
