Great Atmosphere, Good Food. Situated in an old home with funky decor, two bars, and tables located in several rooms on two diffrent floors, this not-your-typical Mexican restaurant is a fun place to have dinner drinks with friends... The sticky ribs appetizer is NOT to be missed under any circumstance; the entrees are well-prepared, although the quacamole is disappointingly average Service is fast and friendly, the atmosphere loud and boisterous. The place gets crowded quickly and the bars are very cramped. Drinks are ok, tending to be be on the weak side, but beer selection is decent.
tonight for 5 de mayo. drink too for ever to come (20 minutes) and they screw the margaritas. then it took another half an hour to get there. the food is still good, but the service (both hostess and waitress) has gone downhill. I used to be a fan of this place, and would recommend to everyone, but given these and recent experiences where the service was sub par, I will not recommend it or come back. in a city like newport, with many different possibilities, I don't have to put it on.
because I have never been to mexiko, I imagine finding a restaurant that is housed in an old building, and perhaps with an outer it area where you would sit under the trees while sleeping on a margarita. I also imagine that eating the top notch would be and that I would notice long before the first bit that I was in store for something special. we have found such a place in newport, rhode island in perro salado.
Rock Solid Mexican- Great Atmosphere. Fresh and creative menu... Had smoked salmon quesadilla special- strong! Margaritas (blood orange) were second to none- did I say strong? The place oozes atmosphere... Make a reservation if you want a table. Otherwise, the back bar rocked. Great service and great experience all the way around. Will be back!

If looking for the place the locals go, this seemed to be it. A regular recommended the ribs, fish taco's, and margaritas...excellent. One of the finest and most authentic Mexican restaurants we have visited. We even stuck around for the live entertainment. Highly recommend.
Mexican restaurant in newport. as everywhere else it is too often overcrowded to the point of light inconvenience, but that is what they get in any above-average restaurant in new england. good drinks, delicious dishes, delicious desserts. I recommend it.
The tacos were great! Nice outside seating! Great little lunch spot. I had a few margaritas which were ok, being from Texas I'm a tough critic but the food was pretty good. Definitely held their own in Newport scene.

I more than LOVE this place. It's funky and food is unbelievable, margaritas are mind blowing I hope you enjoy this place as much as I do!
Very cool place. Staff was great! Food was blah! Would not consider this as Mexicannin the slightest! Won't be back!
