Amazing food, spotty service. I eat at Phoenician Taverna about once a month and the food is outstanding! I have ordered several different items off of the menu, and have loved almost all of them. The pumpkin kibbeh, hummus, falafel, pita, shawarma, etc. are all the best in town. I didn't particularly care for the flat bread I tried with lamb and beef, but I think that is a personal taste issue. Their vegetarian lunch special is probably the best lunch available in Cincinnati. Most of the time the service is good, and sometimes great, but it all depends on your server and timing. Best middle eastern food anywhere! I'm a foodie, gourmet cook, and my husband is middle eatern. 99 percent of the time I eat at middle eastern restaurants I am disappointed and feel I could have done way better myself. I was pleasantly surprised to find a middle eastern restaurant that actually topped my own cooking. We ordered the appetizer sampler; everything was so tasty that we just kept ordering more and more. The fresh baked bread is amazing. Make sure to get the tabbouleh, baba ganoush and baklava for dessert. All the entrees we ordered were excellent as well. great taste. this was the first visit in the phoencian taverna, but it will not be our last. we visited on a very busy Friday evening, but although everyone was full of table, the service was fast and we were waiting for nothing. I was made by one of my Lebanese friends who said that eveything was very authentic and tasted like his family home cooking. we had a mix of cold in between to divide between us 6 and then the schawarma for our main dish, everything was very tasty and sometimes a little salty, but not too much to make it unpleasant. the food and the drinks were all very cheap, especially the wine, I wish more places would not be over fee for their alcohol. Whipped Garlic, yum!. Went to the Phoenician Taverna recently and enjoyed my meal. We had a sampling of appetizers which the owner helped us choose and they were fresh and tasty. I ordered the Filet Kabob which was good but was a bit undercooked, I prefer medium and this was definitely medium rare or less. The Whipped Garlic spread is so good I could eat it with a spoon, yes it is that good! I have never had anything like it and it was flat out delicious. had my steak been a bit more cooked this would have been a run away hit for me. My husband did not enjoy his meal so it was a so-so experience but I want to go back, without him if necessary.
