I have been on the hunt for a great BBQ spot ever since I moved here, and I have to say that Ball Hoggs BBQ is the real deal! Their ribs, brisket, chicken, mac and cheese, baked beans, and green beans are all better than anywhere else I've tried (and I've tried a lot!). The interior may have a quirky decor, but it adds to the charm, and the seating is surprisingly comfortable. The staff was friendly and very professional, making me feel right at home, like I was at a family barbecue. Uptown Q in downtown SA!Locals and visitors should love this Texas BBQ! Counter serve meats by-the-pound and sides in multiple sizes(no plates on butcher paper. Line crew is fun and chatty even with busy lunch crowd.BEEF RIBS!!! Rare to find and theirs are worth the hunt, Big, Juicy and frankly better’n the brisket. Pork ribs tender and tangy. Pinkerton's did not disappoint. We got there early-ish for supper. Already a decent line at 5:45 pm. When there's a line like that, you just KNOW the food is gonna be good. Got our order placed after about 30 minutes in line. The staff were all very friendly and eager to serve. We had brisket, pork ribs, the man bear pig sandwich, cole slaw, amd potato salad. Everything was mouth wateringly good. 5 of 5. Would recommend getting there early as they close at posted tines or when they sell out. Turkey, chucken, and beef ribs were all gone bynthe time we got there. When we left at 7 pm, the line was 3 times as long as when we arrived.

Hands down the best in SA. The location is great and the building has plenty of seating area. The brisket was on point! Flavorful, juicy, tender, and overall some of the best I’ve ever had. I do wish they’d work on the flow of the line. Explaining to everyone the entire process just slows it to a crawl. Are here for lunch on Texas Independence Day. Great food and didn’t have to stand in line for too long on a Saturday. The brisket was really good and loved the Mac and Cheese. Although the smoked turkey wasn’t that great. We sat outside and there was a guy singing country music and he was pretty darn good.

Hands down, top tier BBQ . And I have had a lot of BBQ. Possibly the best pulled pork I have ever had. Go early they run out of meats quick. Totally worth it .

Come early because the lines can get very long, and once they run out of an item, it's gone. Excellent brisket!
