Pinotta - Reserva de mesa

All told our experience with Pinotta was ordinary. It was a roasting Melbourne evening and its poky air conditioner struggled. We were in the front room which was crowded and noisy including the (loud) record music they were playing. The menu was limited. The writing on the blackboard menu was a bit indistinct and what we thought was the accompanying peppers turned out to be pippies. Our first choice of the wine list was unavailable so things weren’t going well from the start. The service was OK if a bit casual – “keep talking, I’m listening”. The food was judged to be good – the fish (without the pippies) but with a crisp salad was considered the best. The steak and vegetables was passable...

This is a good restaurant. However our last visit was a little disappointing. 1. The service was very task focused and made us feel a little rushed.2. The wine list is very limited, so to be told that they don't have the Tempranillo is not acceptable - I feel a short wine list is fine but there is no excuse for not having stock, particularly when you end up paying over eighty dollars for an acceptable alternative.3. The flank steak was nicely cooked but had either been left too long to rest so that is was barely warm to eat.This is a good restaurant and we have been there many times - I just hope that the staff do not lose sight of the service and standards that made it popular in the first...

Great atmosphere. There's a bar section at the front, and a dining room at the back. We were lucky enough to get a table right by the fire.There was only one waiter despite the place being quite busy. We ordered steak, blue eye fish, bream, grilled squid, calamari and croquettes. All was really yummy. Small criticism on the steak, we asked for rare and it came out medium. But can't complain. Everything is quite delicious.Ordered dessert. Got a."honey pistachio cheesecake.", Chocolate semi(something) which is a home made chocolate ice cream. The cheesecake was interesting. It was more like a slice of french toast. Sadly, we didn't enjoy it. But we thoroughly enjoyed everything else.

My husband and I recently celebrated a joint birthday here a few weeks ago. This is after many years of being a regular at the restaurant and always enjoying the food, ambience and service. Especially the attention of Heidi the owner. We booked out the whole restaurant for our guests and had a great shared meal and lots of dancing. The food was exceptional as was the service which can be really difficult for a large group - 40+. Would highly recommend as a venue and everything went without a hitch, or you could say better than we could have possibly expected. Lovely welcoming space. Very nice food. Terrific service as well. Nice wine options as well. Hard to not be seduced by that combination. We had the set menu option with each course very impressive particularly the roast chicken. Service was impressive. ''Twas a good night all round. I'd happily saddle up again.

Nice cosy place for dinner and service very good. The entrees were very tasty particularly the mushrooms. Mains were fish and a nice meal but not outstanding. Lacking the finesse and little touches that make the difference. That being said no complaints so worth a try.

It is where the discerning locals go. It is where you can be accommodated, waited on by a great team' and fed consistently great food and wine. Which bring me back to the point, if the locals pack the place out it is better than the rest

Great local eatery in Fitzroy North. Food, atmosphere, wine and service were all great. I wish we had more places like this in Sydney.
