We came on a Friday night after various recommends from people. Don't come on a Friday. They don't take reservations, and this place gets quite the line. We came around 8pm on a Friday and waited nearly 2 hours for a table. They don't mind if you grab drinks from the bar while you are waiting, so we had a good time while we were waiting. I would come on a Monday or Tuesday and come before 6 or around 9.The green beans were absolutely delicious, and the wine amazing. The pizzas were good, but not the best we have ever had. The crust was a bit too soggy for my taste. I have had lots of thin crust pizzas and I think there must be a way to remedy this. The mushroom pizza was my favourite off all...
Grumpy waitress who grudgingly sat us at window table, even though place was 80% empty. Freezing air con. No gluten free available, all out. Next 2 choices of pizza also not available. Settled for 4th choice, most tasteless pizza with burnt crust, sparse toppings, no flavour at all. Probably the worst pizza I've ever had.Finally, I get a glass of wine with a live bug swimming inside. When I mention to waitress, no apologies offered, not even a word. She brings it back, no idea if I got a fresh glass of wine, or if bug removed and same glass returned. On a positive note, nice washrooms. Pizzeria Defina's vegetable side dishes are some of my favorite things to eat in Toronto. I could live off of the crispy green beans! The roasted acorn squash main dish with pearl barley barlotto makes me want to bribe the chef for the recipe so that I can duplicate it at home. The pizza is good too. But the vegetables are really outstanding. This is definitely one of my go to places when we have company in town, or on a date, or when I want to take myself out to lunch. Really, when can I go again?
first time: the pizza was really very good. you can choose between different types of dough and so everyone gets what he wants. the salat was unfortunately quite tasteless, but ok, in a pizzeria you eat pizza the greatest problem was the waitress. they gassed that we had ordered beer, and repeatedly asked ourselves whether we are four people (no) and generally did not seem very attentive. possible that the amount of people was in the restaurant, but there was no very good feeling. Dropped in recently for a quick lunch on a hot Saturday afternoon (well...honestly, for a cold beer on a hot Saturday afternoon). Pizzeria Defina was a great choice. The sides were wonderful (great meatballs and brussels sprouts) and the pizza was terrific! The staff were uniformly knowledgeable (great suggestions for beer to try - spot on)! and really friendly. This is a place we will return to for the food, the many beers on tap and the great staff!
Located in the heart of Roncy village, Defina serves great pizza in a tight location. Service is crisp, but the size of the store takes away from the quality of the food. Diners should have a tolerance for noise and getting bumped. Only serves wine by the glass or bottle, which I find restrictive.
