We ducked in out of the rain to Gelateria Pizzeria Margherita in the little town of Erlach, Switzerland at the SW end of lake Bielersee. Walking in, you see the beautiful flowers and a really nice outdoor dining area, which is covered, giving a very pleasant area to dine. From the first moment, the staff are very welcoming and friendly. The food is very special. We ordered sparkling water, which was poured into a carafe filled with fresh fruit and mint. We ordered a plate of tomatoes, with buffalo mozzarella, olive oil, balsamic vinaigrette as a starter for us all (five) to share, and a platter with the most sumptuous tomatoes, and was a delicious starter. Quaint and cosy place packing an awesome culinary punch! The salad was as fresh and flavorful as it could be with tiny tomatoes from heaven. But then the sautéed fish came in a delicate butter and nut sauce and the saffron rice... hold on... served on top of a humongous carved wheel of Italian Parmesan cheese. What a delight for eyes and stomach, yes I skipped dinner today. I won't even try to explain what the dessert was, the lemon sorbet mixed with the wild berries on top of a scrumptious buttery cake called for a home made limoncello. It is a place where I always return with pleasure. I was with my sister in the zone and we couldn't skip the visit. I had decided to try roast beef, that I hadn't tried before in this restaurant, and it was simply delicious, as expected! It seems impossible to make a mistake with the choice of meal! What I especially appreciate in this restaurant is great service and attention to detail. Everything, from the beautiful garden, to the table decorations and helpful staff speaking several languages, make you feel really welcome. I strongly recommend Margherita if you want to enjoy extraordinary meal and relax in an idyllic swiss ambient.

Sparkling water with fruit is amazing, the waitress was very kind and spoke many different languages, for the wine, take the white Hasenlauf (from the region). The meat is great nice and soft, the chicken on grill with truffles fantastic but you don't really feel the truffles and the fillet de perche also great! Risotto with white wine is good and risotto with safran is also great! Compliments from the restaurant, take the strawberry alcohol, amazing and sweet! Thank you to this amazing place!
The meal of Zürcherschnätzeltes with Rösti was absolutely amazing, we were just spoiled. More than enough, very nice service. The grappa and limoncello provided were also delicious. Thank you for the lovely evening. Will definitely come back

Very friendly, nice location and awesome great food. We had Parmagiana and that was a fantastic. After we had lamb with polenta and this was great too. We can recommend this place.
