Pizzeria San Daniele

We just got back to the hotel from having a meal at this restaurant after reading the great reviews we were keen to try it out. My partner ordered the sirloin steak medium/well done it came out still mooing literally blood on the plate. Not to mention the steak quality itself was appalling extremely stringing and full of fat. If you are to dine at this restaurant I would HIGHLY recommend NOT getting the steak. The manager (possibly) came over and asked what the matter was my partner told him he took it away and came back with menus for dessert/ coffee. Umm no thank you I'm not going to waste anymore money at your establishment as I couldn't even eat 1/3 of what was served up as it was more along the lines of blue than well done to medium. To top it off we were made to pay full price for an inedible meal. I myself ordered the carbonara I did ask for light cream ( as I can't eat to much cream) however it came out almost bone dry the bacon was fat the fat had not been trimmed off. (I am fussy with my bacon though ) so it may have been fine for others to eat. I ate approx 1/3 of mine also. Will not be returning. Which is a shame as its right down the road from the hotel and they actually offered us a menu in English so we could actually read what we were ordering.

I first went to Pizzeria San Daniele one night that we were at a hotel and didn't have anything to eat and I asked if they made take-away pizza. The owner answered affirmatively and invited me to sit down while they were preparing my pizza. In the meantime he offered me some white wine while I was waiting. Already did struck a very strong cord; yes, I thought, this is what kindness means. The pizza was great. My wife, my daughter and I enjoyed it. The following night I went there with my daughter; same scenario, only this time the owner also offered my daughter a non-alcoholic cocktail. Again, I thought that was a great gesture. Tonight I took my family there to eat in the restaurant, rather than take away. My wife and daughter ordered spaghetti all'Amatriciana, whereas I had escargots and a pizza. Everything was very nice. We finished the evening with ice creams for the ladies and a creme caramel for me. The owner has been very kind all the time, the food was excellent and the bill very reasonable. What's not to like? I strongly recommend this place if you ever happen to be in the surroundings.

I came here as the other restaurant I headed to after reading reviews on TripAdvisor was closed. Even if the atmosphere had nothing special (was indeed a bit cold, as the temperature in the dining room!), the decision to give this place a try revealed to be good. I had a nice Parma ham starter followed by a well prepared pasta, even if far too rich in garlic for my taste (my fault that I did not specify I did not want any garlic a all!) and a good cheese duo. The house wine was acceptable. 4 stars for what I got compared to the price.

We ate here last night and it was excellent! Great thin crust pizza, pasta, and escargot, along with some wine. Beautiful bread and olives served complimentary.
