First time in Chicago, so we wanted to try some Chicago style food for us and the teens. Someone suggested Portillo 's, but in looking that up, we came across Poochie 's, which had similar Chicago style menu options, and the name sounded fun, so we came here instead. So glad we did! The gal at the register was super helpful since this place was new to us. Most items came as a special, which meant it came with their hand cut fries and a 20 oz drink. My first time eating from this restaurant and I am not giving a full breakdown because I've only had the opportunity to try one meal but judged from the Char Turkey Burger with Fries the Turkey burger meat had a strange flavor and taste as if it was old or not seasoned or something, And they serve fresh cut fries but they are overcooked until they are crunchy (which some may prefer) but they should be somewhat soft and I couldn't believe that even the fountain Pop was bad. Classic Chicago dog. I was a huge fan of Poochies when I lived in the Chicago area until the 1990s, so I was thrilled to discover they still have a location on Dempster and decided to give it a try. It’s rare to find a restaurant that hasn’t changed in over 35 years. The hot dog was still packed with flavor and had a nice snap, accompanied by delicious fries and friendly service. Definitely a better option than the chain restaurants!
I'm not usually a fan of hot dogs, but I've grown to appreciate them. After trying several different places, I can confidently say that the best one I've had is the charcoal hot dog. It's fully loaded with the perfect flavor! I highly recommend it.

Ive eaten here for over 35 years starting when I was a kid. Back then we'd save our money and ride our bikes to Poochies. The food and people have always be outstanding. Im now taking my grandkids there for hot dogs!
By far the best food in that area , the marinated chicken is Devine !!! Salami Sammy is epic , highly highly recommended, I'd give 10 stars if aloud
I have been there with my teenagers, and they love their burgers and hot dogs. The French fries are good too.The staff is super friendly.
I ordered the chicken breast sandwich, and it was truly one of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever tasted. Keep up the excellent work!
