I must have walked past this restaurant a dozen times during my 2-week stay in Saint Louis. But I finally decided to give it a try for my last dinner since I was intrigued by the statue of a cow in front. The food was amazing! I immediately regretted not trying the restaurant earlier. After studying the menu for a while, I decided to order the pork knuckle. It was fantastic! The potatos and cheese sauce complimented the meal very well. It 's only about a 10 minute easy walk from the Hotel La Villa K straight towards the Swiss border. My gf and I had to stop 1 night in Saint-Louis, and just a few meters from our hotel there was this place serving until 23pm , which was ideal as it was late when we arrived. This place mainly caters to locals, and passers-by such as ourselves, the staff is friendly enough but do not expect any special treatment or frills. My gf had a beef filer à la truffe , while I had a magret duck, also à la truffe , accompanied by 25cl of Merlot. Both meats were cooked quite well, with plenty of garnish, and a very tasty truffle sauce. I visit the place during my stay on Basel after friends recommendation. The place is 50m from Swiss/France borders on France side. The decor was not something special but had something roustiq! We order soup for first and meat with fried potatoes for main. The soup was very good the meat was not something special. Dessert order cream boule that was very taste and drink the local bear that was very taste! The worst thing was the service! I understand that we are on France but they did not made any try to speak English. Furthermore the girl that serve us was very ironic! If the service was better I could give a chance on the future. But if it is the same.....No way!!
Caught the tram from Basel to the border and had lunch here yesterday. Had the lunch plate of the day which cost 11.50 Euros or $AUD 17.00) Entree was Quiche Lorraine, Main Course was a skewer of mixed grilled meats with French fries and vegetables and Dessert was Creme Caramel. All courses were well presented and delicious. Bottle of white wine was 26Euros $AUD $38.00) Service was quick and our waitress was very friendly. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal and recommend this hotel for a meal.

A huge portion of steak and chips plus a glass of wine and a beer for us both. The steak was of average quality but then at €34 which even with a deflated British pound was under £30 can't be bad. far far cheaper than 200 metres down te road in Switzerland.
This place is unique. The menu is diverse with tasty local foods. The atmosphere is kicky and colorful with things like upside down umbrellas for visual appeal. Your ears are fed with local music at certain times. A terrific joint al the way around.
Located next to the Swiss border, this restaurant offers a nice selection of traditional dishes and a really budget friendly steak, which we ordered. Definitely good value for money. Service friendly and fast.
