Portofino's - Reserva de mesa

We stopped in Waco for my wife 's birthday dinner while we were traveling home. To say that we were less than pleased with our experience would be an understatement. We typically share an entrée so we can eat an appetizer and dessert. Two large entrées is overkill for us. Well, Portofino 's charges you a $6 sharing fee and with that only comes an extra empty plate. They do not even separate the food onto two plates for you for that ridiculous charge. The waitress just said, well it 's a mom and pop shop you know , when we asked about the ridiculously high sharing fee. The food did not taste like it was cooked fresh. On Sunday evening, we were in the mood for a nice Italian dinner, but unfortunately, our first choice was only open for brunch. After some searching, we discovered Portofino's, a cozy little spot tucked away in downtown Waco. The menu featured a wide variety of tempting options, and I can confidently say that my dinner was excellent—on par with some of the upscale restaurants in bigger cities. The service was decent; our server did what was needed. They offer beer and wine, though not hard liquor, and while the wine list was somewhat limited, it still exceeded the basics. This isn’t the place for a proposal or prom night, but it’s perfect for a celebratory dinner after she says yes.

This is truly one of the worst Italian restaurants we've ever visited. The food was excessively salty, and the pasta was overly saturated in sauce and seemingly microwaved, definitely not freshly prepared. On a positive note, the young lady who served us was lovely and very attentive. However, the house wine we ordered was so unpleasant that we couldn't drink it, but it was removed from the bill. There was no atmosphere at all, and the place was quite empty, which was concerning for a Saturday night during peak hours. Additionally, one of the servers appeared scruffy and wore very dirty sneakers while greeting us.

Great selection of Italian-based entrees. From the traditional to more typical modern (like lobster ravioli) to the more unique, like a twist on an eggplant parm. Fantastic food. Incredible desserts--like the tiramisu and the chocolate mousse. Very good service. Simplt Italian restaurant, but with lots of love. Reserva una mesa ahora

We've gone here often, wasn't sure what happened this time. The bread is usually very fresh this time it almost tasted like it was reheated and old. I had Joe's garden which was very good. And the rest of the food was fine, just didn't seem as fresh as other times.

I personally have not ate here. Only picked up doordash orders. After seeing what I have seen several times I will never eat here. They handle your food with bare hands. Nobody was using gloves

I can’t even tell you about the food because within 5 minutes of sitting down a roach fell on me from the ceiling!! So, needless to say I did not stay to see what else they were serving.

Best Italian food in town! Get the Nona Trio if it's your first time. You will have plenty of leftovers

It was a great place with great food. The waitress was very nice and made the experience over the top.
