Located in the Coast Chilliwack Hotel is this bar and restaurant. We had dinner one evening here which started service at an early 4.30pm. We had in hand a 15% discount voucher given to us when we checked in. The receptionist gave us the voucher for today only. We were seated near the window overlooking the pond. For mains we had an underwhelming chicken penna pasta with the chicken being stringy. The New York sirloin steak was quite nice and came with a peppercorn sauce, half a dozen asparagus spears and a mound of mashed potato. We pulled up stumps to leave room for dessert. We need not have bothered. First of all they had no coffee machine, so anything other than a filtered coffee was out...
Wife and I went out for dinner. Ordered the chicken won ton spot, not bad but not great. Looked at the menu for the main and we both felt like steak. There was a sirloin on the menu, then a New York Sirloin? Didn't sound right so I asked the waitress is this a Sirloin or a New York Strip? She went to the kitchen and came back and said it was a Strip. So my wife ordered the Sirloin and I the NY Strip. My wife's came out and looked pretty good, about an inch and a half thick and cook medium rare as we had both ordered. My more expensive Strip was about a quarter of an inch thick and was well done!! We ordered seafood chowder (more corn than anything in this dish) and when it arrived it had a slick on top to indicate that it had been sitting for a long time. We also ordered the lettuce wraps and when those arrived they looked so unappetizing that we ended up sending them back to the kitchen. The bean sprouts were brown and slimy looking and the cucumber was dried out as was the meat/chicken, I was not sure what it was. They took this off of the bill but we opted not to order anything else from Preston's and ate elsewhere. The service was okay but quite slow. The view is nice on the patio of the pond.
What can I say about Preston's! They took total care of us. Especially Tasha! She served us in the bar, on the patio and also our windup dinner for 35 players and parents. The food was great but the service was even better! Thank you Tasha and to your whole team for making us feel so important! We had a great time!
I hate to say this but I have been at Prestons more than once (couple times in the dining room and more often in bar) and the food is not worth any money you pay. I do not know who the chef is or why that is. I continue to hope it will get better but have given up. The service is good.
