Rae's Bistro & Lounge

Stopped in with a neighbor for breakfast on our way to a market. What a mistake !! Very unfriendly waitress ,coffee was so strong my friend had to ask for hot water to dilute .Restaurant was not busy food took a long time but would have been ok if at least the result was delicious .Instead both our hash browns were cold when I told the waitress she offered to get me an other serving but I declined as it seemed I had a lot of food. She never bothered to tell the kitchen just stood at the back talking to the other server .My food was so salty I couldn't eat it .My friends basic breakfast was no home run either. Again cold hash browns , toast was burnt around the edges. Breakfast seems to be the easiest meal surprised it couldn't be a home run ?On reading some of the other reviews it almost does not seem we are not even writing about the same place !!!!Attentive service with a smile goes a long ways in building a relationship with neighboring customers.Will probably not return or recommend. Very disappointing as we are definitely lacking a great restaurant in this area.

My husband and I have been Rae's three times now now since it's reopened from 925. Upon our first visit we truly enjoyed the bourbon glazed ribs. They were excellent! Upon our next visit, that is exactly what I expected to order however we were informed that the sous chef who developed the recipe had left and they were using up the last batch. It was pretty clear that even though the ingredients were there whoever prepared them did not have the technique down - they were not very good. We have been back twice since and the food has not been much of a treat to say the least. The staff work really hard and are very friendly, and the restaurant has a very cozy neighbourhood feel albeit quite loud. I truly want this restaurant to succeed as it is a great addition to North Kildonan and I really like to support local businesses. Hopefully they have just been going through some growing pains. I will go back at some point and submit an update.

I always like a restaurant that has booths, it is cozy. There are also tables and a great bar to eat at. We went for dinner and found the choices typical with specials on the board. Burgers seemed to be the choice for all four of us, two beef and two vegetarian. Salads and fries were also good. We were really impressed with the professionalism of the waitress. She asked all the appropriate questions regarding diet restrictions, our approval of the wine and beer chosen. Service was swift and efficient. No blaring music, making for an enjoyable social get together.

This bistro reopened after the original owners moved on. The new owners have appeared to kept the decor the same but changed the menu. It is appealing and fresh. We were treated well by the staff, everyone we met was friendly and cordial. Our meals were well prepared, very tasty and filling. We did not leave wanting anything. Hopefully the Bistro will continue to serve our community for some time.

Big nice breakfast for 6$ Monday to Friday special. Nice ambiance! I did not have the coffee so I can not comment on that. I think if you don't have the special it would be easily double and up. Enjoy!
