Rahway Fried Chicken

I found this place while exploring en route back to the NJTransit station. Rahway is in deep trouble if this is the best fried chicken they can do! The place is no frills, with very colorful menus hanging up. Several tables and an ice cream counter. The chicken is quick and cheap but tastes like it is. I got the two piece mix for $6.40. The chicken was bland and super dry and got caught in my throat several times. I didn't eat it the same day but fried chicken should still hold up and other fried chicken I have tastes good the next day. Popped in to grab a quick lunch to go. Place was small but clean, sit down seating wasn't available which was unfortunate but understandable for now. Onto the food review! I got the 2 piece chicken with fries and a side of potato salad since the Mac and cheese wasn't available. The chicken was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside so that's a solid 4/5 stars, the fries were the usual easy to make fries nothing special, nothing bad. The potato salad on the other hand was....weird. I think maybe it was a little heavy on the onions, or some other flavor? This spot is the very definition of more than meets the eye. In my quest to explore the area a bit further I stumbled upon this chicken spot looking for something cheap and filling. However, I was left with the impression that this is more than your run of the mills chicken fix. Environment From the outside it would appear to be your typical chicken spot serving grease and a tummy ache. Craving fried chicken but actually care about how it's made? Definitely order here. Great for late night, family night, pandemic night; hangover cure, or a snack To bring over to Sticks next door. The owner genuinely cares about his product as I learned from speaking with him many times next door at the cigar club. He is very civic minded and exactly the kind of neighborhood business we should support. The place is clean and the chicken is fresh. I never experienced any wood breast here either. The girls are always nice here. If you want something quick and good to eat you should definitely stop by. I've only pretty much had their Buffalo wings which are really good and their beef Pattie's but I see people order everything here. Great prices and always clean! Grab some ice cream While the weather is still nice!

Damn! This place cooks the worst fried chicken I have ever had.. literally the worst. It was so upsetting I just threw away the rest of my box. Ate 3 out the 10 piece.... I gave it two stars because their cheese fries weren't bad at all. At least that satisfied me...

The drums n flats were so salty and the full wings were bland. They didn't pay any attention to my request for no rolls. If I'm gonna indulge in a guilty pleasure, would like some actual pleasure. A reminder that unhealthy food is just not worth it.

I’ve been there twice, and both times they took my money but didn’t provide the food I ordered. I feel like I’ve been scammed twice already. I recommend steering clear of this restaurant.

The service is friendly, the food is made fresh to order, and the portions are generous. The chicken salad is always a hit!
