Sadly this is the WORST RESTAURANT I’ve ever visited; and by a long margin! The many negative comments left in their reviews testify to how bad my own experience was. Neither the staff nor the manager demonstrated any understanding whatsoever regarding allergens in their food, despite being asked more than once and being allowed reasonable time to respond, placing them it would appear in breach of the requirements of the Food Standards Agency, given there was no written allergen information evident or offered when asked. The manager at Raj Palace was very rude and provided zero customer service. I would recommend avoiding this restaurant. Our takeaway was delivered very late and the wrong order arrived. When we asked the manager to rectify it, they refused and took the wrong order back. As a result, our children had to settle for toast at 9pm. Luckily, Just Eat refunded our money and the manager promised us a free meal for our next visit. However, when we called to claim our free takeaway, the manager said no. Despite being regular customers, we were left disappointed.
I have yet to come across another Indian restaurant that serves food as delicious and fresh as Raj Palace. While it may be pricier than most other Indian restaurants, the quality of the huge meat chunks and fresh ingredients make it worth the extra cost. I don't enjoy spicy food, so I recommend trying the Pasanda dish. It comes with a lovely sprinkle of shaved almonds on top, and the keema rice and peshwari naan are also delicious. My only suggestion would be to include a couple of complimentary poppadoms for the price.

This restaurant is very warm and inviting, without any pretension. The food is delicious and beautifully presented by the knowledgeable staff. The prices are reasonable, making it a great option for a meal before or after grabbing a drink at the nearby Victoria Inn. The staff are friendly and welcoming, making for a pleasant dining experience.
Being carers we tend to have takeaways for special occasions and that was the case again. It was my wife's birthday and Raj Palace did us proud. The food (for six) was with us in 35min and it was piping hot and exceptionally tasty. I have no hesitation in recommending Raj Palace.
This is the worst restaurant I have ever encountered in my life in Colchester. The staff was extremely rude and provided zero service. I do not recommend going there at all. Instead, I suggest going to Curry Leaves, which is only 0.03 miles away.
The food was amazing and tasty. Beautifully decorated and clean. Very friendly staff. Would definitely recommend.
