Went there recently. Just got a 1/2 pound of brisket. Or I should say I paid for a 1/2 pound of brisket and got something closer to .35 or .4 pounds at the very most. How do i know it was plenty light? I 've eaten EXACTLY THIS at dozens of TX bbqjoints and never had a 1/2 pound serving this small. The sauce is not very good. It just tastes like sweetened ketchup withsome spices and chili added. Not good, but it would pass for an authentic TX sauce. The $22 price tag for a light 1/2 poundof brisket is quite outrageous too get real. Over priced sides as well, wont be back. On a positive note. I visited Ray's for the first time earlier today, and as a Texan now living in Los Angeles, finding good BBQ can be a challenge, but my search is over! From the moment I arrived, the friendly staff and mouthwatering aroma made me feel like I'd stepped into BBQ heaven. I can’t praise Ray's enough! The pulled pork was incredibly juicy, and the brisket had that perfect melt-in-your-mouth flavor and texture that we Texans dream of. It’s so good, you won’t even need sauce, though they have plenty available on the side. Don’t miss trying the BBQ burrito either—it’s a delicious mix of nearly everything rolled into one! I can't wait to bring my family for an authentic taste of the South!
I had mixed feelings about stopping at a BBQ joint in Huntington Park, as I usually associate the area with tacos, tortas, or mariscos. But I was pleasantly surprised. Upon entering, the owner warmly welcomed me and asked if I had ever visited before. When I said no, he eagerly assisted me in navigating the menu. I decided to try the brisket, and it was love at first bite—perfectly tender with a wonderful mild smoky flavor. The sides were also excellent, featuring a unique twist that complemented the meal beautifully. Overall, great food, inviting ambiance, and exceptional service. You truly are a master of your craft—keep up the fantastic work!
Really good Texas style barbecue. We ordered for a party of 10 and had a pound of pulled pork, a full rack of ribs, 2 pounds of brisket, two pounds of mac n cheese, 1/2 pound coleslaw and 1 pound of the BBQ rice. Everything was tasty and this amount of food was sufficient to feed 10, with limited leftovers. Smoke flavor was great on all of the meats, and the spicy BBQ sauce was awesome too. Its a great restaurant with phenomenal food, but it is a bit expensive. Definitely worth it though. The atmosphere is good but not a lot of space and hard to have a private conversation. Also would recommend getting more than just the brisket sandwich because it will leave you wanting more! Drinks are also pretty pricey fyi.
Rays will NOT disappoint you! The quality, the service and the atmosphere is 5 stars! I’ve been here several times and today I just had to give it a review and tell the world. If you are in the area or if you want to try a new BBQ place don’t worry about the drive this place is worth it.
