Ray's on the River

Food was very disappointing for the price. My family all ordered seafood which was supposed to be flown in fresh but I’m unsure if this is the case. I ordered a broiled seafood platter which had absolutely no seasoning (even no salt, no pepper) nor color (total pale, unappetizing appearance). The platter came with meager portions of small piece salmon, small crab cake, 4 shrimp, and 2 scallops. Scallops were large but due to lack of sear or seasoning were very gelatinous and non-palpable. Salmon had no salt or flavor which made it also hard to eat. Crab cake was ok but I’ve lived in Maryland and I understand the challenge to achieve a MD style crab cake outside of the state. Had another great “happy hour” last night at Ray’s on the River.  I started with a dozen of the happy hour special $1.50 oysters with their fabulous presentation (see photo).  My wife chose the steamed mussel appetizer which we shared and was perfectly done with a delicous garlic/white wine broth. Behind the bar was Troy and Blythe who always take great care of us. They each made my wife a perfectly shaken dry, Tito’s martini with blue cheese olives that was on the happy hour drink menu for $11 each. We had a table by the window and got to enjoy a fabulous sunset. Appetizers included fresh oysters, mussels, pork belly and oyster Rockefeller. All were fantastic! Dinner was entree portion of mussels, horseradish crusted grouper, shrimp and grits, and seafood platter. Food was outstanding. Our waiters David and Aaron were attentive and very helpful. Would highly recommend and will come again.

This restaurant never disappoints us. We love it for a late lunch or a special occasion dinner. We were celebrating a birthday last night. The chef’s special was a filet Oscar with a lobster tail and scallops. Divine. Ezekiel was our server and was perfection. Reserva una mesa ahora

Our server tonight was terrific, which is par for the course. We are always treated very well. Dinner service is not rushed nor hovering. Our dinner was paced so that we could really enjoy the meal and each other’s company.

Excellent food! The tables along the windows are fantastic. The view of the river is amazing. Great date spot or for special occasions
