I agree with JD Mitch's recent review. Avonlea Village can be likened to a food court with many places in PEI capitalizing on the Anne of Green Gables theme. The $12 price for a potato was unreasonable considering the portion size and quality. After a mix-up with the staff, we finally received our potatoes in styrofoam containers with plastic utensils. The toppings were scarce, with one end having most of the toppings while the other end was dry. The service was lacking and the overall experience was mediocre compared to other restaurants with better food, service, and prices.
this small restaurant is located in a small commercial village full of charm. We went there to taste the potatoes of the island style poutine. you have the choice between cooked potatoes or potatoes cut into cube and roasted. We took the roast fries for our poutines, except my youngest one who took nachos. child menus at $7. excellent nachos with cheese, cheese sauce, safe cream and salsa if desired or potatoes version poutine. large portions for children. We all loved it. the staff is very kind and even took the pain of practicing his French which was excellent.
The poutine was very good. The gravy was some of the best I've had. But the service was extremely slow and poorly organized. Keeping in mind that this is a counter service fast food restaurant, it's a little insane that it was nearly 30 minutes between when I walked in to order and walked out with my meal.I understand that baking potatoes takes time. but when that is literally the entire point of your shop, it seems like there should be a faster way to get it all done.
If you're looking for a great place to get a great baked potato, then you have found the right place with red Island baked potato. Not only is the food delicious, but the owner is right there behind the counter serving you and talking to you and she is fantastic. If you get a chance to go to Prince Edward Island this is a definite stop. Your mouth will thank you.

When stopping by Avonlea Village, we were shocked and disappointed to find that a once-charming pioneer village is now just a glorified food court. Ate here. The baked potatoes with special topping were good, but $12 is ridiculous for a potato entree in a stir-foam tray. Felt tourist trapped.
The staff at this restaurant were very friendly and made a sincere effort to connect with customers. They deserve praise for their friendly attitude. I have to admit that I am not a big fan of potatoes, but I was impressed by their poutine. It was outstanding.
The pulled pork baked potato was really good, bigger than expected, and very filling. In fact, I couldn't finish all of mine so took the rest home. The service was slow at the time we were there, but it was worth the wait.
Had 'Da Porker' ... pulled pork potatoe with all the toppings ... it was absolutely incredible ... not only the best baked potatoe I've ever eaten, but also my favourite meal on the Island so far. I'll definitely be back!

Very good, we enjoyed it very much! Yes it's 12$ but it's very filling and we were on vacantion so!
