Since moving to Balwyn a few months ago, we were looking for delicious Asian food within walking distance to our place. Then we discovered Red Lantern. We've come back many times as the food is absolutely delicious and the customer service is faultless. We always feel welcome here and find ourselves ordering the same dishes because they're amazing! We recommend ordering the honey chicken, vegetarian fried rice, eggplant dish, XO sauce green beans and minced pork, ma po tofu, sweet sour fish black bean beef.
We absolutely love this local Chinese restaurant. It has been our go-to spot for years now. The dishes are always consistently delicious, especially our favorites like the roast duck, honey pepper beef, squid, chicken ribs, and their special fried rice. We feel fortunate to have such a fantastic dining option so close to home. It's clear that many other locals feel the same way, as the restaurant is always bustling with diners.
Red Lantern is a hidden gem in the neighborhood. The roast duck was absolutely delicious and not greasy at all. It's recommended to call ahead and reserve the duck, as they tend to run out quickly. The menu offers a wide variety of options and it's a perfect spot for a fast and satisfying dinner.
The staff at the restaurant were welcoming and helpful. I tried the beef with noodles and vegetables, and I found it to be delicious. I have visited this restaurant in the past and plan on returning again in the future.

One the good local Chinese restaurant restaurants. Consistent quality. Some of my favourites are. Stuffed eggplant, bbq pork, hony pepper steak, Mongolian beef, fried noodles, etc.... All good.
Yummy roast meat, love the roast pork, spot-on salted fish fried vermicelli and duck vermicelli. It’s my regular place. Highly recommended.
Affordable, lovely staff, good old fashioned Chinese cuisine with fresh ingredients.
