While visiting the village, I believe there is only one place to get a hot meal. The food may be a bit expensive, but it was definitely worth it as part of our day trip. I opted for a half portion of fish and chips, which was more than enough for me. The fish was incredibly fresh, the chips were well-cooked, and the tartar sauce was delicious. Overall, it was the perfect lunch by the coast. The service was for takeout, and the meal type was lunch.
Currently serving a takeaway only service due to Covid however there were very long waits for food after queuing to order. Had to wait outside for over 45 minutes for 2 sandwiches and chips. Had I known the wait would be so long I would not have ordered, as it meant we spent the majority of our time in the harbour waiting outside the Red Lion, which took the shine off our visit a bit. Food was very tasty when it finally arrived though.
The restaurant is very unwelcoming and not recommended as there is no parking available and you have to navigate an extremely steep hill to get there. The service was unhelpful and subpar. We ordered some snacks and drinks, which were served in plastic containers and glasses, unexpected and disappointing. The bar is lacking and prices are too high. Overall, we rated the food, service, and atmosphere all a 2 out of 5.
Quite disappointed overall. The crab had lots of bits of shell in it and had been mixed so much it was a paste and so for what I received it was extremely overpriced. The service was quite slow as there was only one person catering for the whole floor and the menu didn’t resemble what was online and so the experience didn’t match what I had expected. We had a fantastic experience once again at the Red Lion. The food was exceptional as always, and we are truly grateful to the staff for their excellent service. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for friendly staff, delicious food, and breathtaking views. It's definitely worth a visit.
